The Drum at Biidaasige Park | Completed 2026.

Rooted in the theme of the 13 moons, this shade structure speaks to time, lunar cycles, gathering, ceremony, and reconnection with water.

Mercedes + Singh detailed and fabricated the metal components: translating the artwork into perforated metal assemblies that filter light, cast shadow, and help shape the pavilion’s atmosphere.

Pattern, structure, ceremony, and craft: brought into the built environment using contemporary tools. Parametric cutting files and geometry rationalization using Rhino+Grasshopper. All panels cut in house on our hi def plasma machine and fabricated in house.

The Residential Development work at MASIV is powered by our in-house terminal called Superstudio.

One of the things we are most excited about is who gets to build it with us. Esther Thompson joined MASIV as a software engineering intern in 2025 and has been working directly on Superstudio, solving real problems across architecture, engineering, construction and software.

These are actual tools being used to build actual projects. For software students, AEC is becoming a surprisingly exciting place to work. There are enormous unsolved problems, and unlike a lot of software, you eventually get to see your code become something physical.

In this video, Esther talks about what she’s been working on and what she’s enjoyed most about her time at MASIV. This is the kind of place where ambitious engineering students can come in, take real ownership, ship quickly, and leave having built things they probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity to touch anywhere else.

If you’re in software and want to work at the intersection of AI + software + architecture + robotics + construction, keep an eye on what we’re building. This industry is about to get a lot more interesting.

We just received Development Permit approval for this exciting 6 unit build in Banff Trail inner city Calgary. This is a great example of missing middle housing and how contextual bylaws can still lead to integrated and community sensitive housing.

This development will provide housing to young families and University students looking for access to inner city housing.

While the 724 Single Family Residence is being constructed, so are the custom fabrication details inside the home.

From bespoke millwork to integrated furnishings and material transitions, every detail is being developed alongside the architecture itself. By designing and fabricating these elements in parallel with construction, the final home feels cohesive, intentional, and fully integrated from the inside out.

The start of a duplex + laneway suite in Banff Trail, inner-city Calgary.

Through careful site planning and shadow studies, MASIV ensures responsible infill. We use computational tools to design with light in mind to maximize solar gain, and also make sure the impact on the neighbours is minimal.
