Hey y'all, hope youre having a very Merry Christmas thus far! It has been an exciting year for growth, and all of your support has been very greatly appreciated and noted, your business and word-of-mouth promotion has been absolutely essential! This latest job was brought about entirely by word-of-mouth promotion: finishing drywall for the Ferrier Community Hall project. Largest drywall job by far, lots of work for this one lone fella! This is just one part of the project, the next phase will begin as other trades finish their part in the future, looking forward to coming back and continuing on!

Hey y'all, went in to The Rock drop-in centre and gave it some much needed love and a refreshing repaint! Personally, this job was a pretty big deal because I was a part of the youth group that started this whole thing, our youth pastor had a vision and us kids were eager to jump in and help make that vision a reality! Many years later, when I was asked to come do some work here, I couldn't say yes fast enough! Drywall repairs, repaint on ceilings, walls, trim, doors and bathroom stalls, very excited with how it all came out! Lend your support to this outfit if you can, having a safe spot for youth to go and just be youth and keeping out of trouble and harms way is a huge asset to our community! Many thanks for the work, on to the next one!

Hey y'all, its been a minute! Want to take this opportunity for your continued support despite West of 5 seemingly going radio silent since Christmas! Been a busy year so far, lots of great opportunities to level up a bit in the business and trade world, here is a sneak peek at 2 jobs that are currently ongoing! First set is a 3 level house repaint, walls, doors, jambs and trim - second is the living room of a brand new house build that involves primer + paint on walls, some ceilings, door jambs + trim, and staining interior doors! Keep your eyes open, more regular posts are coming to ya!

Here is from a job that was wrapped up today from north of Leslieville. Mix of existing walls and new drywall, new baseboard and exisiting casing, doorjambs and windowjambs. Walls were brushed and rolled (with the exception of the green walls), trim and jambs were all sprayed! Yep, we like to spray stuff like that whenever possible, makes for a nice, glassy finish when all is said and done! Special thanks to Bauer Flooring in Rocky Mountain House for bringing us on, very happy with how it all came together!

Hey ya'll! It's been a busy summer so far, both at work and play! Speaking of work, this is one concept I personally have been having a itch to try out. Painted all the walls (including shiplap in bathroom), doors, windows, jambs and trim you see (not shown is 6 sets of bifolds that are being installed at a later date). The small doors/jambs and windows were all stained wood before I got to them, and I am very happy with how it all turned out!

Oh and also we did the stair stringers and risers (the stringers were dimensional 2x12 that needed a fair amount of filling and sanding to get to a finish grade). Let us know what you think!

Special thanks to Murphy & Sons Custom Homes and Renovations for bringing us on!

When it comes to painting previously stained wood, proper preparation is so important to have a beautiful, long-lasting finish. Most stain blocking primers on the market today require the previously stained surfaces to be at least scuffed (be sure to read the product labels!) with minimum 100 grit sandpaper, clean and free of any dirt, dust and grime. For primer, it has to be stain-blocking, because the natural oils from the wood will want to bleed through and cause yellowing. If you're using latex based primer (best if you will still be in the house during the project), you need minimum of 2 coats. If you're using oil based primer, you are able to use only 1 coat unless 2 is needed. As always, sand in between coats of paint for a smooth finish!
