I finally made it to Pepper On The Side in Brampton to try something I’ve never had before… Bake & Shark! 🦈

We waited about 20 minutes for our food, and in good faith they treated us to complimentary pholourie, which was such a nice gesture.

While we were leaving, Kelly handed me a piece of cassava pone, and that ended up being another first for me. I forgot to record my initial reaction, but trust me when I say I absolutely loved it. 😍

Then I put their pholourie to the test.

I’ve made pholourie myself, so naturally I had to compare. It didn’t taste like mine, but it was still very good and I enjoyed every bite.

Then it was time for the Bake & Shark.

To be honest, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. It wasn’t what I imagined, but in the best possible way. I was genuinely and delightfully surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

The only thing that reminded me of a pita was the way it was presented. It was like this delicious pocket stuffed full of toppings. Taste-wise? Not even close. The bake was soft, fresh, and absolutely delicious.

And if you know me, you already know where my mind went next…

“How can I recreate this at home?” 😂

Have you ever tried Bake & Shark?

Watch until the end 😂

I normally don’t give comments like this any attention, but this one caught my eye.

You don’t have to like my cooking.
You don’t have to like my videos.
You don’t even have to follow my page.

But when your response to seeing two friends laughing, cooking, dancing, and enjoying life is to attack their appearance, that says a lot more about you than it does about us.

The truth is, Kelly and I had an amazing time making that video. We laughed until our stomachs hurt, shared memories, cooked good food, and created content that brought joy to thousands of people.

So for anyone wondering how we feel about the comment…

This is it. 😂

We’ll keep laughing.
We’ll keep dancing.
We’ll keep cooking.
And we’ll keep being unapologetically ourselves.

Because life is way too short to let someone else’s negativity steal your joy.

❤️ Christal

🚨 NEW YOUTUBE VIDEO IS LIVE! 🚨

Before there was Cooking With Christal… there was a very confident teenager who thought making curry chicken meant cutting up some onions, adding curry powder, and hoping for the best. 😂

In today’s video, Kelly and I are sharing the hilarious (and completely true) story of one of my biggest cooking fails. Looking back now, it’s funny… but at the time? Not so much! 🤣

If you’ve ever learned to cook through trial and error, you’re going to enjoy this one.

What’s the biggest cooking mistake you’ve ever made?

Some of my favourite moments in the kitchen aren’t planned. 😂

I was making curry and confidently announced that I was about to “bungee” the curry.

The second the word came out of my mouth, I looked at Kelly because I knew something didn’t sound right. 🤣

For those who don’t know, I spent 20 years with a Jamaican, so some Guyanese and Trinidadian cooking terms aren’t always the words that come naturally to me. I would’ve called it burning or frying the curry.

Needless to say, Kelly corrected me immediately, reminded everyone she’s still teaching me new cooking terms, and we both ended up laughing.

I almost didn’t share this clip, but these are the moments that make our friendship what it is. Real conversations, real laughter, and a whole lot of learning along the way. ❤️

Tell me in the comments… what’s a word you’ve been confidently saying wrong for years? 😂👇

Thirty-five years ago, we thought making chicken curry was easy.

Apparently our recipe was:

🧅 Onions
🍛 Curry powder
🤷‍♀️ Hope for the best

Needless to say, our Guyanese boyfriends (at the time) were not impressed. 😂

Today, Kelly and I were laughing about our first attempt and realizing just how much we’ve learned over the years.

Back then there was no Google, YouTube, no cooking tutorials, and definitely no Cooking With Christal videos. ❤️😂

Thankfully we’ve both come a long way since then.

The full story drops Saturday on my YouTube channel, and trust me, it gets even better. 🍛❤️

How many of you completely ruined a recipe the first time you made it? 😂👇

Meet Kelly. ❤️

I’ve known her since I was 16 years old, and in a few weeks I’ll be turning 50.

She’s one of the kindest, most loyal, funniest people I know, but if you ask her to describe our friendship, this is apparently how she chooses to introduce herself to allyuh. 😂👊

The funny thing is… she’s not wrong.

For more than three decades, she’s been the friend who’s always had my back, made me laugh when I needed it most, and reminded me that real friendship is one of life’s greatest gifts. ❤️

On Saturday, I’m sharing the full story of the first time we made chicken curry for our Guyanese boyfriends over 30 years ago. We were young, there was no Google, no YouTube, and let’s just say our first attempt wasn’t exactly a success. 😂🍛

Trust me, you’re going to want to hear this story.

Some friendships are just different. ❤️😂

I’ve known Kelly since I was 16 years old, and in a few weeks I’ll be turning 50. Through all these years, one thing has never changed…

I’m usually the one smiling and laughing, and Kelly is always somewhere in the background making sure everyone’s behaving. 👀😂

If you’ve ever wondered what 34 years of friendship looks like, this is it.

And trust me… this friendship becomes very important in Saturday’s video when we tell the story of the first time we made chicken curry for our Guyanese boyfriends over 30 years ago. 🍛❤️

This right here made my day. ❤️

One of my followers Davi B - Buchan purchased food from me on Saturday and was kind enough to share her thoughts, with her daughter right there beside her. Watching and hearing people enjoy the food I’ve poured so much love into is one of the best parts of what I do.

Thank you for your support, your kind words, and for taking the time to leave a review. It truly means so much to me. Every order, every comment, and every share helps more than you know.

I’m so grateful for everyone who continues to support me and trust me with their meals. 🥰

Thank you for the love. It never goes unnoticed. ❤️
