Supervisor Position Opportunity

The successful applicant must be reliable, have their own transportation, work well both independently and under the direction of others, have good problem solving skills, be self motivated, cooperative, have good communication skills, and have a desire to learn. We work inside and out year round, so the successful applicant must be ready to work in various weather conditions. We work residential, commercial, and agricultural projects travelling from Montague to Summerside, North Shore to South Shore.

Supervisors are responsible for light administrative tasks, material and productivity control, some interaction with clients, staff training, safety regulation enforcement, adequate ability to read and interpret blueprints, as well as being competent at many carpentry tasks day to day on the jobsite. The successful applicant must be able to work under pressure, evaluate productivity and make adjustments, set and manage goals and schedules, interact with employees, perform conflict resolution, and be constantly developing with both carpentry and management skills.

Wages are negotiable based on proven experience in the carpentry field. Full health benefits and eligibility for additional monetary bonuses is available for the successful applicant. No previous management experience is necessary to apply for this position, but competence at the many aspects of the carpentry trade is required. It may be an advantage for those applicants who have both commercial and residential jobsite experience.

Join the City and the PEI Public Library Service des bibliothèques publiques ÎPÉ for a Fix-It Fair.

Date: Saturday, May 23

Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Location: Charlottetown Library Learning Centre, 97 Queen Street

Skilled volunteer ‘fixers’ will provide free repair services and share practical tips on how to perform similar repairs at home. Attendees may bring one item for repair, such as a bicycle, small appliance or article of clothing. Please note that smart phones, laptops and antique clocks will not be accepted.
The Fix-It Fair will also feature a Community Resource Hub, showcasing local organizations and services available to Charlottetown residents.

Helpful tips!

❄️Heat Pump Iced Up? Try This First ❄️

If your outdoor unit is iced over and not heating properly, it may simply be caused by restricted airflow from excessive snow and ice.

✔️ Turn the unit OFF.
✔️ Clear snow at least 12–18 inches around the unit.
✔️ Make sure fan blades are free and clear of ice or debris.
✔️ Pour warm (not boiling) water over the coil to melt ice if needed.

⚠️ Do NOT use boiling water or sharp tools - this can seriosuly damage the unit.

Your heat pump needs airflow to absorb heat. Snow, ice, or blocked fan blades can make it struggle or shut down. Once cleared, turn your unit back on and allow time for your system to get back up and running — this may take several minutes.
