We are just a month away from daffodils! My favourite daffodil is there a tete. It blooms very shortly after the snow goes away and is only 4" tall. At this height , the foliage just disappears into the rest of the planting and avoids that "bad hair day" look so many bulbs get after flowering. I planted several hundred bulbs in the front garden so I could get this little display. It gets better every year as the bulbs grow and reseed. I've found daffodils to be fairly tolerant of moist soils which a lot of bulbs are not. What is your favourite daffodil and why?

I read a question about seasonal changes in the garden and making the most of the space available. In response to that, this is my garden through the seasons. I live next to a river and have rich moist soil. This garden faces East and is in part shade.
Sorry it's all out of order. The basic combination is white astilbe which blooms in June to July with big leaf aster blooming in August through September. The pink emergent is meadow rue (Thalictrum aquilegiifolia) blooming in May to June.
The grass is Calamagrostis Karl Foerster. The fern is Cinnamon Fern. The tall plant on the right is Tall Coreopsis (Coreopsis tripteris) and the giant on the left is Fleece Flower (Persicaria polymorpha). There are tons of native and non invasive plants in this garden that are less obvious.
