It was wonderful connecting with everyone at the conference.

👏🏽Thank you to the organizers at BCASCO for hosting another excellent event, and to everyone who took the time to stop by the Station One Architects booth to share insights and discuss the future of educational spaces in BC.

A big thank you to Matt, Madison, and Gaurav for representing our team and driving such great conversations throughout the event. We also want to send a special congratulations to Tori from SD 23, the winner of our booth giveaway. We hope you enjoy the prize.🎉

Our team will also be attending BC, and we look forward to connecting there.

👩‍🏫🏫The Education Learning Centre for Coquitlam School District was designed to replace the existing School Board office and combine the many programs and departments together onto one site. There was growing need within the District to provide more spaces for meetings, including School Board meetings for ongoing collaboration between the School District and the Public. The building is a mixture of office spaces and meeting rooms with an International Education component. The use of large glazing walls and the DIRTT office partition system allows for a flexible open design concept bringing outdoor natural light into most interior spaces. The facility will serve as the headquarters for all new School District development, ongoing Information Services and Education throughout the expanding School District.🌳

🏫🌳As part of its strategy to centralize warehousing, distribution and administrative functions, as well as providing a community and district hall gathering space, the Surrey School District developed the Resource and Education Centre (REC) in Central Surrey. The project serves as both a purpose-built, centrally located meeting place for the district’s many principals and vice principals, as well as a highly efficient warehousing and distribution centre for the district’s inventory.

The features of this new building are numerous, and include the building parti delineating a large warehouse area separated by the main access corridor from the three-storey classroom/meeting/conference room block. Building massing and the materials employed were sympathetic to the neighbouring school district facilities, with pronounced use of concrete, glass, metal, and wood. Cross-laminated timber panels were utilized with glulam beams to provide ceiling emphasis on the upper floor. The facility is multi-functional, and there are a number of green spaces, as well as outdoor patios that can be used for functions. The patios have a direct view to the forest. There is a multi-storey entry foyer that is well lit with natural light. In addition, an exercise room for staff use, two gathering halls, multi-purpose rooms, and two small staff kitchens round out the REC’s comprehensive features, making it well-suited for its purpose.👩‍🏫

🌲🌳Natura Condos’ site is surrounded on three sides by Horn Creek Park in Abbotsford, which provided an incredible opportunity for a development that harmonizes with nature and provided the inspiration for the layout, overall design concept and materiality. With approximately half of the original 3 acre site dedicated to public park space, and required environmental setbacks from the adjacent creek, putting together the building form was an incredible opportunity to do something unique.🌊

Design principles from many sources were incorporated, including LEED, Passive House, and feng shui. A wide variety of unit types and sizes, from studio to 3-bedroom plus den, are included, all with large windows and decks to bring a balance of exterior and interior spaces.

🏌🏻☀️The recently redesigned and rebuilt Ledgeview Clubhouse replaces the previous location that burned down. The new building serves dual functions; it will be a golf clubhouse on the lower floor and a banquet facility on the upper floor.

The City of Abbotsford is addressing a municipal need of bookable rooms for banquets/meetings/etc. by creating a facility at the golf course. These rooms on the upper floor open onto a large deck with amazing views of the golf course and an on-site banquet kitchen can serve functions up to 225 people. The lower floor are the facilitates the golf course includes a lounge, small lunch kitchen, pro shop, change rooms and office. An open-air cart storage space is located underneath the banquet facilities.⛳

Sun’s out, runners out ☀️🏃‍♂️

This past weekend our team hit the streets for the Vancouver Sun Run—an awesome SOA event that brought together fitness, fresh air, and a whole lot of team spirit. Even better, it was a true family affair with some great moments shared alongside loved ones ❤️.

Big congrats to our top finishers who absolutely crushed it:
🥇 Matt – 53 mins
🥈 Oleksandr – 55 mins
🥉 Beryl – 58 mins
Incredible times all around—seriously impressive runs!

We soaked in the beautiful Vancouver scenery on a perfect sunny day… and yes, we’re definitely feeling it now (a few sore legs walking around the office this week 😅).

To top it all off, we wrapped up with a well-earned après run lunch at Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar—great food, great laughs, and a perfect way to celebrate together.

Already looking forward to next year 👟💪

🧑🏻‍🎓We love welcoming WEX students through our doors and giving them a glimpse into the day-to-day world of architecture, technology and design. From Grade 10 students to college placements, supporting local youth and helping them explore future careers is something we’re proud to be a part of.

A big thank you to one recent Grade 10 WEX student for the thoughtful card and lots of Timbits - safe to say they know the way to our hearts!🍩

Wishing you all the best in your future studies and career journey. We’re cheering you on!

Quick update on the office construction progress 🚧

Our new stairs are officially installed—bringing the space together in a big way.

It’s all in the details… and this one looks pretty incredible 👌

22 of us. 10 km ahead. One race.

The bibs are in, the shirts are ready, and the energy is building. Some of us have been training hard… others are relying on pure enthusiasm (and maybe coffee!) Either way – we’re showing up together.💪🏻

😰Occasionally, we like to challenge ourselves with a little sweat and grit outside of the office. Watch for us!

The Vancouver Sun Run – here we come Sunday, April 19!🏃🏃🏽‍♂️

Big things are taking shape around the office 🚧

We’re excited to see progress rolling in with the delivery of our new office stairs and the concrete pour for our mezzanine level—two major milestones that are bringing our space to life.

There’s something pretty rewarding about watching a vision move from plans to reality, piece by piece. These updates aren’t just structural—they’re building a space designed for collaboration, creativity, and the way we work best as a team.

More to come as things continue to come together 👀
