A little business housekeeping this week 🌿

After much thought, I’ll be stepping away from my email newsletter for now and simplifying a few things behind the scenes at Sleeping Dog Plants.

Like many small businesses, I’m becoming more mindful about both time and costs, and I’d like to put more energy into the parts of this work I’m most passionate about right now — the baking, plants, photography, styling, seasonal projects, and creative collaborations. ✨

For the time being, Facebook and Instagram will be the best places to find updates on boule days, plants, pop-ups, and whatever beautiful thing I happen to be working on next.

The newsletter may return someday in a different, simpler format when the timing feels right. 🌿

Thank you, always, for following along and supporting this little evolving business.

This Friday - boules day - will be the last for a while as I head into a busy June month. The usual line up will be available - farmhouse white, rustic hazelnut, and whole wheat cinnamon raisin. I'll also have petite pots of plants looking for new homes. All plants are $1 each. Blue fescue, Mexican feather grass, catmint, agastache, and sedums. The perfect size to tuck into planters. They will get larger as the season extends.

Order your boules here or send me a DM 🥖
Have a wonderful week! 🤍

There is something deeply comforting about slow Saturday mornings… ✨

Fresh bread cooling on the table, linen still rumpled, herbs gathered from the garden, sunlight moving quietly across the room.

The older I get, the more I understand that beauty lives in these small rituals — the everyday things made with care.

This loaf was part of a recent photo collaboration with Babette’s and beautiful Emile Henry pieces, and I think it captures so much of what I’ve been drawn to lately:
slow living, seasonal rhythms, garden to table inspiration, and a softer European atmosphere.

Happy Saturday, friends. 🤍

There has always been photography quietly woven through my life. 📷

Not formally.
Not professionally.
Just an ongoing fascination with light, composition, texture, atmosphere, and the way ordinary moments can suddenly feel poetic when framed well.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon photographing beautiful boules for Babette's French Tableware using their gorgeous green Emile Henry dishes, linen, greenhouse light, and the soft moodiness of the atelier. And somewhere between the bread, the shadows, the pottery, and the quiet styling of the table, something clicked for me.

I realized how naturally all of my worlds overlap:
gardens 🌿
flowers 🌸
food 🥖
objects collected with care
old European sensibilities
seasonal living
and the art of making everyday life feel beautiful.

A thoughtfully laid table is not so different from a garden, really. Both invite people to slow down, gather, linger, and notice.

For years I loved photography from the edges of my life, never fully immersing myself in it. But perhaps creativity has its own timing.

This small collaboration felt deeply inspiring. More to come, I think. ✨

Happy Mother’s day to all the moms, dog moms, mentors, and people who take on mothering roles. And to the ones who made us moms in the first place. Wishing you love. Enjoy the day! 🥂

Hi, its me, Flora~

I took a little time away from the garden today 💦

Mum says there are things to be done — pruning, planting, lists…
but I think it’s important to remember the other parts too.

The blue sky.
The cold water.
The feeling of being completely, wonderfully soaked.

I checked everything very carefully (several times).
It’s all still there. The garden will wait.

In the meantime, I’ll be here ~
supervising the tide,
chasing the light,
and smiling at absolutely everything 🌊

Love,
Flora 🐾🤍
