The stairs are the first thing you see when you walk into a home—so they should set the tone.

This space went from dark and dated to a bright, clean entryway with all new materials. New treads, new risers, new railings, and updated spindles—nothing refinished, everything built fresh.

We also replaced the entry tile, tying everything together so the whole space feels intentional the second you walk in.

Now, instead of blending in, this entryway makes a statement.

We knew going into this one that it wasn’t going to be straightforward. Between the floor joists, layout, and that corner, a curbless shower here was always going to take some real planning.

To make it work properly, we opened up the floor, reworked the structure, and adjusted the plumbing to get the slope and drainage exactly right. This is the kind of work you never see once it’s finished — but it’s what makes or breaks a curbless shower.

The end result is a clean, seamless space that looks simple — but there’s nothing simple about how it was built.

Before ➡️ After

This bathroom renovation wasn’t just about updating the look… it was about planning ahead. We reworked the layout to make it more functional, safer, and better suited for aging in place.

The old tub/shower combo is gone, replaced with a clean, low-threshold walk-in shower and glass enclosure — easier access now, and even more important down the road.

We also incorporated a stacked washer/dryer to keep everything on one level, reducing the need for stairs and making day-to-day living that much simpler.

✔️ Updated lighting + fixtures
✔️ Layout designed for comfort and accessibility

Last week was a busy one for my role as CHBA NL President — getting out, representing the industry, and connecting with people across the province.

From attending the CNA Annual Awards Ceremony and celebrating the incredible work happening across Newfoundland and Labrador, to a great luncheon alongside the Paradise Mayor, and our CHBA luncheon where we heard from Minister Wall — it was a strong reminder of how important collaboration is between our industry and government.

A week full of connection, conversation, and continuing to push residential construction forward

This one’s a pretty wild before & after, and part of an entire home transformation

We took a closed-off kitchen, dining, and living area and opened the whole space up so it actually works for how the home is used.

To do that, we added in a structural beam and removed the walls that were breaking everything up. Huge difference right away.

The new dining area is our favorite - the old windows were leaking and had caused quite a bit of rot behind the scenes. Instead of patching it, we pulled it all apart, fixed it properly, and extended the roofline to straighten everything out and give the space a bit more room.

Now it’s bright, solid, and ties right into the rest of the main floor.

The kitchen was fully reworked too — new layout, bigger island, and finishes that keep it clean and timeless.

After a rough Newfoundland winter, this section of siding didn’t hold up and needed to be addressed.

The challenge was that the existing siding has been discontinued, so a direct match wasn’t possible. Rather than patching it with something that wouldn’t blend, we took a different approach.

We created a clean accent section that protects the home now and will tie in nicely when the client moves forward with a full exterior update down the road.

Not every project is a full renovation — sometimes it’s about finding a practical solution that still looks intentional and holds up long-term.

Last week I had the chance to meet and mentor high school students by assisting them with building mini picnic tables at Academy Canada!

Great to see so many youth interested in the trades. Thank you to Skills Canada’s Skilled Futures Program and Academy Canada for giving me the opportunity to be involved.

What’s more satisfying than a bathroom reno?
A bathroom reno you know is done right — and one the homeowners don’t have to worry about down the road.

For projects like this, we love taking it right back to the studs so we can make sure everything is done properly from the ground up. What’s the point of investing in a renovation if you’re not upgrading what’s behind the walls too?

Once opened up, we found moisture and mould — the kind of issues you’d never see otherwise. From there, everything was rebuilt with proper insulation, vapour barrier, and a solid foundation to build off.

Finished off with a clean, modern look that the home owners can enjoy for many years.

We also added in-floor heating under the tile, which has been getting more and more popular lately. It’s one of those upgrades people don’t think about at first… but once it’s in, there’s no going back. Especially this time of year.

Looks good on the surface — but built right where it matters.
