This mandala garden is so large, we had to take this photo from the roof of the house! Imagine the abundance of veggies, greens, and herbs this garden setup can produce! There's also a fig tree in the backyard and a few cold-hardy kiwi vines to complement the amazing food productivity πŸ›’πŸ₯πŸ‡πŸ₯•πŸ₯”πŸ₯’πŸ«‘πŸ…

Why you need to clean out your hedges! A client recently had her hedges trimmed and asked to have the debris from under/around the trunks raked out to tidy them up. This can be important but there is one thing that most gardeners don't do but is HIGHLY CRUCIAL for the health of your hedges!
~
At least once per year, especially if your hedges have been trimmed, is to clean out the inside of the hedges and remove any fallen leaves/needles that have started to accumulate around branches and start to pile up around hedge trunks and stems. What ends up happening over time is that leaves/needles drop down into the hedges and get caught on inner branches and stems and form big pockets which start to compost and break down. Not only does this prevent healthy air flow on the inside of the hedge, it also eventually can kill the bark on stems that are completely choked in composting material and it can lead to many branches in the hedge dying off. Dozens of wheelbarrows full have already been cleaned out from the inside of this hedge which was utterly choked full of debris on the inside. You can see pictured some of the branches that are beginning to decay and die off
