Corner Brook's home comfort specialists — from the fireplace to the backyard. Here at the Tin Man we take pride in what we sell.

If its not good enough for us to use ourselves then it isn't good enough for our customers. That's why our employees enjoy our products in their own homes and cabins. The Tin Man in a unique company selling a wide range of products for all seasons in Newfoundland. Not only do we sell products, we also manufacture stainless steel canopies for restaurants in our sheet metal and welding that is located below our Retail Store. The Sheet Metal and Welding shop produces many items like ductwork, rocker panels for vehicles, metal signs, and just about anything to do with metal. I guess you can say metal was our specialty first and is why we started the Tin Man in our little shop in the basement in 2001.

For 25 years, The Tin Man has been Corner Brook’s go-to for wood stoves, fireplaces, hot tubs, and grills. We’re looking for a friendly, motivated person to join our showroom team at 27 Union Street.

What you’ll do:
🪵 Help customers find the right stove, fireplace, grill, or hot tub for their home
🧾 Process sales, quotes, and orders at the counter and over the phone
⛽ Fill propane tanks for customers
📦 Keep the showroom stocked, clean, and looking sharp
🤝 Work closely with our install crew and fabrication shop to keep jobs moving

What we’re looking for:
✅ Customer service or retail sales experience (hearth or trades knowledge is a bonus, not a must — we’ll train the right person)
✅ Comfortable on a computer and the phone
✅ Honest and straight with people — we don’t sell customers something that won’t work for them
✅ Reliable, organized, and willing to learn

What we offer:
💰 $18–$23/hour, based on experience
🕗 Full-time, 40 hours/week — Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm. No evenings, no weekends!
⛽ Paid training in propane tank filling
🔥 Product training from top brands like Blaze King, Pacific Energy, Harman, and Traeger
👊 A small, hardworking local team that looks after its people

Same roads. Different prices.

We pulled our fuel numbers going back to 2020 and compared them to the average price of gas each year.

Every year, The Tin Man burns roughly 10,000 litres of fuel getting to installs, chimney cleanings, deliveries and service calls. That number has barely moved in six years.

What we pay for those litres has moved a lot:

2020: $10,275 (gas averaged about $1.07/L)
2021: $15,816 (about $1.46/L)
2022: $20,140 (about $1.85/L)
2023: $17,646 (about $1.74/L)
2024: $17,603 (about $1.72/L)
2025: $15,593 (about $1.55/L)
2026: on pace for nearly $19,700, with prices now over $2.20/L

Same trucks, same roads, same customers. Our fuel bill has swung by almost $10,000 a year based on the price at the pump alone.

Every local business that drives to its customers deals with this: trades, contractors, delivery, home care. We absorb as much as we can, but it's a real cost that's completely out of our hands.

So when a local business charges a travel fee or service call fee, now you know where part of it goes.

Sometimes a job calls for a truck, Sometimes it calls for a boat. In our latest wood stove install our customer picked us up in there new Airbus Astar series helicopter and flew the install team right to the jobsite.
