Comox Valley Handyman Helping Hand Project 2.0

Over the past year, thanks to the incredible support of this community, Comox Valley Handyman has continued to grow. Because of that support, I'm in a position to give back again.

I'm excited to relaunch the Comox Valley Handyman Helping Hand Project.

Each month, I'll be donating my time to help someone in our community with an essential safety-related home repair.

The goal of this project is simple: to help people who are unable to complete repairs that directly affect their safety, accessibility, or ability to remain comfortably in their home.

This isn't a program for renovations or cosmetic improvements. It's intended for repairs that can make a real difference in someone's day-to-day life—things like installing grab bars, repairing loose handrails, fixing unsafe steps or trip hazards, or addressing other essential safety concerns.

If you know a senior, a family, or an individual who could benefit from this program, I'd love to hear from you. Please send me a private message or email with a brief description of their situation.

If you're part of a local organization that supports people in need, I'd also be grateful for your referrals.

This community has been incredibly good to me, and this is one small way I can give something back.

Sometimes the best renovation is one that makes life easier and safer.

For this project, I removed the existing sliding glass shower doors and installed a grab bar along with a new shower curtain rod. The result is a much more accessible shower with easier entry and added stability.

This bathtub had old, moldy, failing caulking that made the entire bathroom look dirty. I removed every bit of the old caulk, thoroughly cleaned and prepped the surfaces, then applied a fresh, crisp bead of high-quality silicone.

It's the small details that make the biggest difference. A clean caulk line not only looks great, but also helps prevent water damage and mold from coming back.

This woodshed roof had definitely seen better days. The old plywood was in rough shape, so I stripped everything back, installed new plywood sheathing, and finished it off with new shingles.

A relatively small project, but it completely changed the look and will keep everything underneath dry for years to come.

These old barn doors had seen better days. The bottoms were rotten, the panels were deteriorating, and they were due for a complete rebuild.

I built two new custom carriage-style doors using a solid wood frame with plywood panels, then reused the existing heavy-duty hinges and hardware to keep the original look while giving them a new life.

A huge transformation that completely freshened up the front of the garage!

Sometimes the smallest projects make the biggest difference.

A customer reached out because she was unable to safely get her walker outside to water her plants and enjoy her patio. I built this custom accessibility ramp to give her a smoother, safer transition through the doorway and help her regain a little independence and freedom in her daily routine.

Being able to get outside and enjoy the simple things matters. Glad I could help make that possible.

Amazing what one simple upgrade can do 👌

Swapped out the old black range hood for a clean stainless steel unit and it completely changed the feel of the kitchen. Brighter, more modern, and a much cleaner look overall without a full renovation.
