Calendula is a flowering herb that blooms from spring to fall! It’s also a fantastic companion plant in the garden, because pollinators absolutely love it. Plus, it’s edible.

Uses:

In the Kitchen: The vibrant petals are completely edible and offer a tangy, mildly bitter flavor perfect for brightening up salad mixes, rice dishes, and desserts.

In Skincare: Calendula is well-known for its medicinal, anti-inflammatory properties, making it an excellent base for homemade salves, tinctures, and infused oils.

In the Garden: The blooms naturally attract pollinators and other beneficial insects while deterring browsing animals like deer and rabbits.

We will have four types of calendula at the sale.

Transplanting Basil today. The smell is amazing! We will have several varieties at the plant sale:

Aroma 2 Basil
Ideal for pesto and culinary use, this tender annual is slow to bolt and typically grows 15–24 inches tall, thriving in full sun.

Mrs. Burns Lemon Basil
Lemon basil can be infused into oils or syrups and incorporated into jams, crumbles, cobblers, ice cream, and puddings. Lemon basil will also add a citrusy, anise flavor to cookies, scones, or other baked goods.

Cinnamon Basil
This attractive basil has purple stems and deep flowers with purple bracts. Its unique cinnamon taste and aroma makes it wonderful for tea/vinegars.

Sweet Basil
Used for pesto, salads, and tomato dishes, it thrives in full sun, warm soil, and is easily grown in containers or gardens, reaching 1–2 feet in height. Regular trimming promotes bushy growth.

Red Rubin Basil
Reddish-purple leaves, and a stronger flavour than sweet basil, making it most appealing for salads and garnishes.

Lettuce Leaf Basil
Large, crinkled leaves, which grow on the short, wide plant, are sweet, but not as strong as other sweet basils.

Thai Basil
Thai Basil plants are cultivated Asian varieties of sweet basil known for their spicier flavor and ability to withstand high cooking temperatures. Thai basil has small, narrow leaves, purple stems, and pink-purple flowers.
