Big openings and exposed structure frame views, bring in light, and create deep shadow.

This photo of the Marine Container Examination Facility is one of Matthew Jarsky’s favourite shots from the past year.

The building is at the Fairview Cove Container Terminal, Halifax. It’s visible on your right while crossing the MacKay Bridge from Dartmouth to Halifax.

After much study, Meriem has passed the Passive House exam and is now a Certified Passive House Designer!

Meriem Kacem has been an intern architect on the Jarsky team since 2022, where she leads residential and commercial projects.

Prior to joining us, she practiced for almost a decade, as an architect in Dubai.

Passive House principles inform our work.

Jarsky intern architect Nicole LeBlanc is now a Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification Professional! — “RHFAC Professional,” for short. 😃

One in five Canadian adults lives with a disability. Physical barriers make grabbing a coffee with a friend or interviewing for a job unnecessarily, unjustly difficult—or impossible—for people with disabilities.

At Jarsky we believe in designing for everyone. We are happy to already be putting Nicole’s know-how to use enhancing accessibility in our projects, and adding the following to our service offering:

• Accessibility audits

• Evaluation of buildings for certification to the Rick Hansen standard.

We are so proud of you, Nicole!
