We lucked out with a perfect setup on this clean concrete pad today. It’s always a good day when you can set up the rig without the usual mud, keeping our equipment looking sharp. Paul is in the captain’s chair making it look easy.

We brought the 1973 Speedstar Crane Carrier out of winter hibernation this past week, and it’s ready for another season. This rig has been a cornerstone of the fleet since Orval and Paul took ownership of Durham Well Drilling.
In fact, this is the very same machine Paul operated when he first started in the water well industry. It stands as a testament to the fact that with proper maintenance and dedicated care, a classic rig can still perform just as reliably as the day it was built.

What makes us even more special? We’re a local, family-owned business built on hard work, strong values, and years of hands-on experience. Founded decades ago by Percy Johnson, Durham Well Drilling then became owned & operated by Orval (father) and Paul (son) Kaufman in 1992. Janette, wife of Paul, becoming partner in 2007.

Durham Well Drilling has always put customers first and stood behind every job we do.

Now, we’re excited to share a new chapter in our story!
