Which one would you pick? One of the projects we've been working on this winter is developing some new products to sell at the shop. We are planning to make 9" x12" metal yard/garden signs. Emma has designed a bunch of great options and now we could use some help to narrow it down to 1-2 options to print. Which of these prairie habitat signs would you like best in your yard?

After a wonderful experience running the inaugural session of Native Plant Club at Prairie Originals this year I am excited to do it again in 2026! The club will meet once a month and alternate between a presentation followed by light refreshments and/or a hands-on activity one month, and the next month a guided walk to explore the natural and cultivated areas of the new home of Prairie Originals including a behind-the-scenes look at operating a native plant nursery and our various experiments. It's going to be fun!
This could be the club for you if you are interested in:
-Learning all about native plants
-Gardening
-Exploring outdoors
-Prairie ecology
-Creating habitat for wildlife
-Plant propagation
-Seed saving
-Making friends with fellow native plant enthusiasts

Registration is now open! Email [email protected] to register.

Flowers get all the glory, but fall days that are somehow simultaneously cozy and radiant are glorious, too! Autumn colours and seed head textures and wind through dry leaves and grasses - it's magical and such a perfectly fitting backdrop to the season of gratitude. There's plenty to be grateful for over here! At the top of today's list: native plants, the power of prairies and the people who are keen to preserve them, a good growing season, the most wonderful staff, customers and mentors, pleasant and cooperative weather through the seed harvest season, flocks of bluebirds and plenty of berries to feed them.
Thank-you and Happy Thanksgiving!

We will be open by appointment for plant and seed sales until the snow falls. Please call or email to make an appointment if you would like to stop by this fall. The weather is looking promising for another week or two at least of reasonably pleasant planting conditions and just before it snows is good timing to direct sow seeds to get a jump on things for next spring. The gardening season isn't over yet!

Standing in a patch of Purple Prairie Clover in peak bloom and hearing and feeling the vibrations of all the bees as they busily gather gorgeous red-orange pollen is a life experience everyone should have! Many different bee species benefit from the resources that Purple Prairie Clover offers, but in this video the visitor is a honeybee from the neighbour's hives.
