Inspired by the handsome buildings that once stood on the site of the new Emergency Department at the Misericordia Hospital, RPK selected copper cladding for the inward facing patient courtyards. Overtime the copper will age naturally, moving from reflective brown to green. Throughout the process the cladding will provide a warm counterpoint to the white cladding the covers most of the building's exterior.

Details make a project.

For our façade design, we developed 4 simple profiles that were stacked, repeated, and surfaced in two different finish films. Linear LEDs were then inserted between adjacent panels. The result is a field condition of reflection, that changes as you move around the building.

Thanks to for making this come together and to for this great axo!

Starting in January 2018, we worked with and the future tenant, Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective (), to adapt an existing City owned building in the Quarters.

We are delighted to see that the final product holds up to the initial rendering.

Architectural visualizations often don't receive enough credit in the media. Too often they get stamped with the "artists visualization". So let's do something about it :). big ups! You nailed the vision.

Highway 10X, a historic and scenic route in Alberta’s badlands, crosses the Rosebud River nine times in less than six kilometers, with brightly-coloured successive box and pony truss bridges forming a physical link to the area’s industrial past.

RPK assisted LEX3 in considering the extent to which a replacement of Bridge 4 should mimic the historic tropes present along the route. After a series of design iterations, a box truss design was selected.

Our office recently turned 50 and we decided to celebrate this half century of architecture and design by assembling a book with a collection of drawings, sketches, renderings and models.

Here’s a quick blast from the past! Now available for download.
