The road goes ever on... ☕🌿

After a few unexpected detours, we're thinking it may be time to stop waiting for perfect and simply begin.

If all goes according to plan (and weather and permits cooperate 🤞), we're hoping to do a soft opening at Mar-Wes Greenhouse on June 6 & 7.

The menu will be limited. A few supplies are still making their way to us. There will undoubtedly be things we'll learn along the way.

But the coffee will be brewing, the drinks will be flowing, and we'd love to finally welcome you to The Wayfarer Café. 🤎

Would you rather see us open sooner with a smaller menu, or wait a little longer until everything is fully ready? 👀

Herbs That Prefer Lean, Gritty Soil

• Lavender — Stronger scent and sturdier stems in poor, fast-draining soil; rich compost leads to root rot and floppy growth
• Rosemary — Concentrated flavor and better winter survival in lean soil; excess nutrients cause soft, disease-prone shoots
• Thyme — Compact, oil-rich leaves in gritty soil; rich beds make it sprawl with weaker taste
• Oregano — Bold flavor develops under slight stress; fertile soil creates lush but diluted foliag
• Sage — Dense, aromatic leaves in dry, lean soil; rich conditions cause legginess and reduced oil concentration
• Marjoram — Best aroma in sandy, well-drained soil; fertile beds produce soft growth with mild flavor

Lean soil encourages deeper roots, stronger essential oils, and better resistance to rot and fungal problems. For these herbs, less fertility means more flavor.
