Another bank project completed. South State Bank in Palm Harbor, Florida requested S200 glass walls for one of their branches. An L-shaped set of glass partitions was mounted onto existing pony walls to provide better privacy for two offices. One side of the L-shaped wall was freestanding, while the other was secured to the underside of a header. We also created a new freestanding office in an open area, featuring three ninety-degree turns in the walls leading to a swing door. The swing door was attached to one of the pony walls while the far side of the office tucked under another header turning back to a wall start. A slightly tricky job, but it was completed in just 16 hours by one person—clean, simple, and modern.

We just wrapped up another bank project in St. Paul, Minnesota for First Independence Bank, featuring a mix of S200 glass storefronts with sliding doors and 60" locking ladder pulls with master keys. The build also included our triple-segmented S400 wall system, with 3/4" panels on each side finished in WilsonArt Fashion Gray, and all extrusions finished in sleek black powder coating.

A recent project in downtown Toronto involved work on three floors of a seven-story building, each identical in layout. The client needed the workspace separated from the elevators and stairs, with walls kept below the ceiling to allow clearance for lighting, HVAC, and sprinklers. The solution was Barbican’s S400 demising wall system, freestanding with aluminum 2x4s mounted on top for added strength and support. S200 glass swing doors, with hydraulic soft open/close hinges and master keyed locking lever pull handles were installed between two aluminum 4x4 posts, which provided space for security wiring to enable electronic key card access. The entire project was managed from start to finish by the team at Barbican Architectural Products in Fort Erie, Ontario.

Another project wrapped up in Topeka, Kansas, featuring a mix of S200 and S400 walls standing just under 10 feet tall. The build includes black powder-coated extrusions paired with Fog Gray Satin monolithic laminate panels from our new panel manufacturer in Cocoa, Florida. Half inch tempered glass for the panes and doors from Old Castle. Hydraulic soft open/close hinges came from T-Concepts in Miami, along with 36" non-locking black powder-coated ladder pull handles sourced from IGT in Miami Lakes.

Another quality and affordable installation was wrapped up in Scottdale, Pennsylvania for the PennLine Company. The project featured offices and conference rooms with silver powder-coated S200 extrusions, 3/8" tempered glass, and 60" master key-coded locking ladder pull handles. From start to finish, it took just 2 1/2 days to complete, with the glass delivered the same morning the installation team began building.

The final of the five installations took us up the hill from New Hartford to the charming town of West Winfield. Think Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show, and you’re pretty close. The day before the next front rolled in, the snow-covered fields and hills made for a beautiful view.

This job was 34 linear feet of matte black S200 freestanding, and like the others, it had a few surprises. The bank building was very old with a semi-floating floor, and we hit a snag when an electrical outlet sat right where our variable wall start needed to attach to an angled wall on the left. With a few quick tweaks and on-the-fly modifications, the project came together clean and strong.

The fourth of five projects took us to New Hartford in Upstate New York, just outside Utica. This one was the largest of the lot, measuring 57 linear feet and packed with challenges. Each of the three demising walls was at a different depth because the building wall was angled and had a chase on one side. To top it off, the whole structure was freestanding, which meant carefully balancing it with several jack stands to support the 2x4 frame before installing the glass track and vertical posts. Once finished, the general contractor was impressed by the strength of the wall system, especially since they’d had issues with other systems and installers in the past.

This is the first of five installations in the upper Northeast kicked off in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. We put in a 136-inch tall, 132-inch wide hybrid wall, featuring nine feet of international white laminate with case glass above. Matte black powder-coated extrusions framed a single swing door with a locking lever pull handle and Biloba hydraulic soft-close hinges. The project was mismeasured by two inches in both width and height, so some quick on-the-spot adjustments were needed. Everything fit in the end, except for one pane of glass.
