Organic Food Coop Project

Organic Food Coop Project The Organic Food Coop Project supports the return to organic food by promoting the cooperative purchase and conversion of unproductive farm land.

The Organic Food Coop (OFC) Project is an organization that has been formed to identify promising farm properties near cities and metropolitan areas. Our first project that we want to establish as a model is a property within an hour driving distance of most of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), reaching a population of more than six million people. We plan to implement the best practices of organic

farms around the world, and combine that with state-of-the-art educational and communication programs to increase awareness about the value and importance of (1) organic food, (2) knowing what is in your food, (3) being closer to the source of your food. What makes the Organic Farm Coop Project different and innovative is that it (1) is being set up as a hybrid community-business organization, (2) focuses on both farming and gardening, and (3) emphasizes a scaled, integrated communication and engagement strategy to serve as a best-of-class model around the world.

The oceans are warming faster than previously estimated, setting a new temperature record in 2018 in a trend that is damaging marine life, scientists said on Thursday.

Organic Farm Co-operative Inc. has reached an agreement with the farm owner to purchase a 50-acre farm property with house, with closing expected within weeks.

The property is located North of the GTA.

There is still time to get an ownership unit with advantageous pricing. For details, send an email message to inform [AT] organicfarmcoop.org.

Because time is limited, please include phone contact and someone will be in touch with you quickly.

“GLOBAL DEMAND FOR FOOD IS ON THE RISE" driven by unprecedented growth in the world’s population and widespread shifts in consumption patterns as countries develop.”
The Institute’s director, Dr. Aled Jones, said that when they ran the model to
**THE YEAR 2040** using what he termed a “business as usual trajectory,” FOOD RIOTS would arise and
** SOCIETY would COLLAPSE** as food production fails to keep up with consumption.

Last week we learned of catastrophe by 2020 from a MIT model. Now another scientific model is predicting similar results. Here are the details.

[Just posted on the GTA Group.]
What makes a cause worthwhile? important? Deserving of your time and effort?
My plan was to put together a brief video this weekend starting on this topic.
I have been thinking and working on answering these questions my entire adult life.
The Organic Food Co-op Project forms part of the answers.
Yesterday I stumbled over a video where Paul Bloom, a well known psychologist talked about his book, "Against Empathy".
I spent a big part of the rest of the weekend studying what he has to say and how that connects with our project.
So my video will take another day or so.
Empathy, action and cooperation: How are they connected, and what does the following picture have to say about that, historically and today?

A Co-Op Owned Organic Farm Benefits Everyone... So What's the Hold-up? The answer(s) explains much!

Some Organic Farm Co-op members decided, on-the-fly, that they would attempt to mobilize more people to help complete the acquisition of the GTA Organic Farm Co-op property in time for Spring Planting. For this purpose a "10-Day Action Campaign" has been launched.

The challenge is that there are a lot of moving pieces to explain in little time, and social media does not really help much with deeper communications.

We ask that you do what you can in the next several days to stay informed, participate and tell others. To facilitate with the communications, a special Campaign Page has been set up on the OFC public Forum board at the following link:

http://forums.vrcities.net/index.php?topic=115.0

Please watch this OFC page and the Forum board space, and help with the mobilization!

Please take time to think about the importance of "Cooperaction" instead of "cooperation".

We continue to move closer yet toward having the number of land owners needed to complete the purchase of the farm property. Here is a beautiful aerial photo of the land form North to South (organic certified) that we want to buy. Notice the hedge rows protecting each field from drift of contaminants. If you want to get involved, call Royce at 877-899-1413, or message us here.

We are closing in on the purchase of a farm property.
About 80 land owner positions are committed and the Project is looking for 15-20 more owners to participate.
When you take the time to look into this program, we are confident that you will do what you can to join.
Visit our web site and download the information and also from November 3-5 you can visit us at the Whole Life Expo, November 3-5!

The Organic Food Co-op Project is about more than just enabling people to be joint owners of a farm property (or several), in the Greater Toronto Area. (That is Phase 1.)
The OFC Project is about implementing a model that engages people to take action to address the urgent needs relating to healthier foods, access, and human cooperation everywhere in our world.
It is a PRIMARY PREVENTION and ROOT CAUSE strategy. We have posted about the fact that in our opinion there are very few if any primary prevention programs implemented anywhere because such programs require very deep analysis and deep organization.
We are now moving to reach a broader audience as part of a special crowdfunding effort that at the same time informs more people about our Project and its broader importance.
In the next several days we will be posting a sequence of communications and ask that you make an effort to visit our FB Page and be involved.
The crowdfunding page is at the following link:

Please take the time to reflect, comment and share your thoughts and opinions.

THIS PROJECT DESERVES YOUR ACTIVE SUPPORT.
Here's the main reason why!
Primary prevention means that you stop a problem before it takes root. That is what a "Root Cause" does.
Surprisingly, there are not that many programs and activities that REALLY focus on primary prevention.
The "Six Big Life Mistakes" keep us from dealing with root causes, and we believe that they explain much of what is wrong with our world. [Image is from another page. Do you know people who make any of these mistakes?]
For example, Root Causes take many years to develop and succeed.
Most people don't want to bother, but EVERYBODY ends up paying the price, in one way or another.
Organic Farm Co-operative, Inc. focuses on primary prevention and IS a Root Cause, because when you make certain that everyone can have affordable access to- and consumes healthy, nutritious food, then many other problems are stopped before they take root.
It deserves your serious and active support. Share, like and encourage people to follow this page and subscribe to our newsletter.
