UPCOMING WEBINAR | This presentation will update woodlot owners on the current status of the Ldd (commonly referred to as European gypsy moth) hatch, and provide a forecast of what we can expect this summer. Learn more and register: https://bit.ly/3oPZLZe

In the spring of 2021, Township staff met with the County Forester and discussed the status of the gypsy moth infestation and best treatment options for 2021. The County Forester had monitored the infestation and determined that there would be no spraying of County Forests. These outbreaks occur every 7 to 10 years and mature healthy forests can withstand these cyclic outbreaks. Most trees on the Township property had managed well through the 2020 season, and were strong enough to withstand the 2020 infestation, and anticipated to be strong enough for 2021. Some trees were manually scraped, and egg masses destroyed in early spring to manage prominent trees.
