For the last day of the Grande Prairie Stompede, I thought I’d share a little flashback to last year when I won 3rd place in the Stompede Art Competition.

Here’s a detail shot of my piece. The first and only horse I’ve ever drawn! 😅

It has been sitting in my art studio all year. What should I do with it now? 🤔

NEW PORTRAIT REVEAL

This adorable face was commissioned to add to two other 16x20 baby portraits I did, one of each of her children when they were babies.

I love this idea.

They say the days are long, but the years are short. Lined up over a sofa, or down a hallway. What a perfect momento of such a fleeting moment.

Babies are so stinkin’ cute.

Just create.

Create something wonderful. Create something awful.

Let a little of that inner chaos come out. You’ll feel lighter and the world will be lucky to have a little more of you in it.

For anyone curious…

Before I left for 2 weeks I asked everyone where they thought we were headed. Portugal was the correct guess. 🇵🇹❤️

I don’t share a ton of my personal life on here. Most of the time I feel more comfortable posting the art than the person behind it. But this little corner of the internet has been part of my life for years now, and maybe it’s okay to let people in a bit more too.

So here’s a photo from our wedding day, with our kids, in one of the many beautiful places Portugal has to offer. And alongside it, a few more of the little Lisbon sketches I made for our wedding guests while we were there.

Travel has always felt deeply important to me. There’s something about seeing new places, walking unfamiliar streets, hearing different languages, and slowing down enough to really notice things that makes me feel more like myself.

I used to travel much more before becoming a mama, and while life looks very different now (in an amazing way), I hope the coming years hold more adventures for all of us.

More art. More stories. More moments worth remembering.

NEXT AVAILABLE BOOKING SEMTEMBER

My next commission availability is officially September!

Which means two things:

1. You guys are absolutely incredible.
2. Future Me is going to be VERY busy!

Every commission, kind comment, share, recommendation, and message has helped me build my art career over the last few years and I don’t take that lightly for a second.

I always want people to know realistic timelines before reaching out and being disappointed that a portrait isn’t available right away. I put a huge amount of care, attention, and time into every piece you ask me to create, and that means I can only take on so many commissions at a time.

However, This fall is going to be wild, with some pretty big adjustments to how and WHEN I work on your commissions and my originals.

Someone bid on and won one of my tiny art pieces for the Grande Prairie Library Tiny Art Auction.

The portrait on the left, had a winning bid of $30, with all of it going to the library.

My kids and I have spend many many hours there, so it’s the very least I could have done.

Unfortunately, the tiny Art piece on the right, a clay eye, fell from its display and sadly was broken. 😞 Accidents happen. We will try again next year!

Great work to everyone who created for this years event.

Throwback Thursday!

I’m currently working on a new baby portrait and I forgot just how much I LOVE drawing these giant squishy baby faces. Seriously… is there anything better than chubby cheeks, bright eyes, and that adorable expression? 😂

This portrait is one I created a few years ago and it still makes me smile every time I see it.

I especially love these done large. A 16x20 has such a beautiful impact. Imagine two or three lined up over a sofa or down a hallway as your babies grow. They feel so personal and full of personality in a way photos sometimes just can’t capture.

These also make incredibly meaningful gifts for grandparents, birthdays, baby showers, or Christmas. They’re the kind of piece people keep forever.

And selfishly… I’d really love to create more of them.

If you’ve been thinking about getting one done for your own little love, send me a message. Or casually share this post with your husband, best friend, mother-in-law… you know… for absolutely no reason at all. 😉

In the flow…

I’m not one to film myself. I feel awkward and uncomfortable in front of a camera. But this day was so perfect I wanted to capture it, to remember how calming and chill I feel when I’m in the flow with drawing.

The music playing in the background and complete meditative peace.

Yes I did stop to film this 15 second video, but that was just a fraction of the 2 hours I spent drawing.

My happy place.
