Super interesting podcast that goes into detail about what composting is! Check it out, as well as the rest of their Think Spring Podcast series!

You may think composting is just a bunch of old banana peels rotting away into dirt but, friend, you're not looking closely enough. Inside that compost pile is a microcosmic universe doing some magical stuff.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This is awesome news!!!

We have some SMASHING news for our friends in Gravelbourg! Effective February 15th you can now recycle your non-beverage glass containers at our SARCAN depot, which is operated by ! This includes containers like:

+Food Jars (pickles, condiments, jams/jellies, sauces, peanut butter, salsa, vegetables)
+Food Bottles (vinegar, oils)
+Baby Juice Bottles
+Canning Jars (used for home canning)
+Glass storage containers

Recycling these glass containers at SARCAN is easy!

Make sure your containers are as clean as possible
Remove lids before visiting (which we can recycle if you separate them and bring them in a separate bag)
Place them in a box instead of in your bag with other containers

What’s our favourite part of glass recycling? You’re helping save the planet! All glass containers you recycle with SARCAN will be given a 2nd life! It either becomes reflective beads for highway marking paint or fibreglass insulation.

SARCAN is proud to partner with the to responsibly recycle non-beverage glass. Bring your empty jars and bottles down to the Gravelbourg SARCAN depot on your next visit!

Nouvelle publicité dans le journal l'eau vive!
New article about my program in l'eau vive, a French Saskatchewan paper!

With this wet and cooler environment lately, you might see some of these guys in your potatoes, what are they? What do they do? Can you eat it? Read the article published by Michigan State Univeristy about these seed pods!
I've never seen these but I think it's super cool!
Have you had these on your potato plants? What did you do with them?

Gardeners have been surprised this year to find fruit produced on tops of potato plants. Learn how they are caused and why they are not edible.

Look at my dirt!
I messed up my initial video where I wanted to show you how I layered my compost, but instead here is my dirt!
This is at least 4 years of compost piles laying around this area. I've but everything from coffee grounds to veggie and fruit scraps, dead plant trimmings, hair, potatoes, egg shells... we even put bones and nut shells in there. Those still look the same, maybe a little more frail. There is a coconut shell in there too that still looks the same.
Experimenting with compost is so much fun because it's generally hard to do wrong and in all these years I have never had an issue with smell.
