Having a hard time keeping you plants alive during the winter? Here are a few tips for you :
1. Shine the light! It’s dark, your plants need sun. If your windows aren’t cutting it, try replacing incandescent bulbs with full spectrum lights in the nearest fixture. Or purchase a grow light!

2. Cut back the water! Yellow leaves? Weird bugs flying around your pot? Moldy soil? These are all symptoms of too much winter watering. All houseplants require less water in winter. Over-watering is always dangerous, but especially so in winter. You can also cut the fertilizer back too. They don’t need it right now, and too much is bad news.

3. Give your plant a bath! It’s hard to believe, but all that dust that accumulates on your plant leaves (especially large tropicals) inhibits the plant’s ability to photosynthesize. Your plants need all the light they can get this time of year, so next time you water, rinse the entire plant and gently wash with a papertowel if necessary. Pro-tip: Stick all the plants in the bathtub and turn on the shower (gentle pressure)!

4. Seal up those windows! Many plants, especially tropicals, are sensitive to cold air. They’ll drop leaves when it gets drafty! To fix this problem, make sure your windows are sealed and insulated, or that your plants are moved out of the reach of cold drafty areas like windowsills and doorway.

Hi all, Ive been MIA for a bit, I bought a plant from someone online and got fungus gnats! So I have been working on getting rid of those completely before selling anymore plants. Now let's talk about Gnats!
Fungus gnats (families Mycetophilidae and Sciaridae) are a common pest of plants grown indoors, especially where humidity and moisture are high. They’re usually first noticed when the harmless adults are seen flying around house plants or gathered at a nearby window(looks like fruit flies). These non-biting adult gnats can become a flying nuisance. But it’s the larval stage, feeding in the soil, that can damage tender plant roots.
I did some research and tried a few things and in my experience here is the most effective way to get rid of these fungus gnats.
- First buy yellow sticky tape and place everywhere around your plants/home. These sticky stakes for houseplants are an economical and convenient solution to the annoyances of whiteflies, fungus gnats, black-flies, thrips, fruit flies, midges and other flying insects. ... The yellow color of the trap as well as the glue will attract the insects.
- To kill the larvae you can purchase these mosquitoes dunks. Mosquito Dunks biological mosquito control contains Bti, a natural mosquito larvicide, which kills mosquito larvae, but is harmless to birds, fish, wildlife, and pets. Simply place a Dunk in any standing water to control mosquito larvae for up to 30 days. To make sure all the larvae is gone you want to only water all plants with these dunks for at least 3 consecutive months! (***Make sure to let your dunk sit in the watering can for at least 24hours before watering)
We barely see any adults flying around anymore and have been using the dunk for over a month and seems to be working amazing!!

When buying more than 2 you will get a discount :)
