Is your driveway ready for another year of heavy traffic and harsh weather? Driveway sealing is one of the most important home maintenance tasks, but many homeowners aren't sure how to approach it. Here is everything you need to know about the When, Why, and Who:

WHEN should you do it?
Timing: It can take up to 12 months after paving for your driveway to "cure" so it's recommended to wait this long before sealing your driveway and then every 2 to 3 years afterwards, depending on wear. This is best done when temperatures are consistently warm and dry.

WHY should you do it? Sealing blocks out water, which prevents dangerous freeze-thaw cycles that cause major cracks and potholes. It also protects against harsh UV rays, oil spills, gas leaks, and chemical stains. If all that isn't enough, it restores that rich, deep black color, making your entire property look clean and well-maintained.

WHO should do it? We recommend hiring a local professional with a proven track record for using commercial-grade sealants. Experts have the right equipment to deep-clean the asphalt, fill deep cracks properly, and apply a uniform, long-lasting coat. If a professional isn't in the budget, many hardware stores sell DIY kits but won't the coating won't have the longevity of the professional option
