Had to move a piece of Sudbury history today with PCL at Tom Davies Square. Our Civic Square Opening Monument needed to be moved to a temporary location while renovations proceed downtown. Such an important piece of Sudbury history needs to be handled with care, for our workers, for the monument, and for the building as well.
It may look like a simple job, but when two tons of stone needs to be moved, nothing is quite that simple. Modifications had to be done to the base piece, planning had to be arranged for the path of travel to make sure the floor could handle the weight, and removal of door mulions and floor grating needed to be taken care of.
Thankfully, PCL was great to work with, and made sure we took care of this piece of history with the respect it deserves. Well done team!
