Pulled out a row of undergrown garlic to give my snow peas more root space, and plant more peas. Will dry the garlic and eat it in a couple of days. Nothing goes to waste. Multiple onions are multiplying. Good start to the season.

Check out my cold frame today. At the freezing point outside, my cold frame still holds the heat. The double layer works good. The carrots look healthy and strong. Taste fresh. The other frame has kale. Not much growth in the cold but will grow faster in a couple of months. Will start three different onions today inside. Still have lots of tomatoes in the freezer still. It's been a soft winter in Guelph.

Being a gardener buying lettuce in a grocery store was the hardest thing for me to do. The last time I bought lettuce was in October. But I needed a Caesar salad. So I spent almost $8.00 CA. For six hearts of romaine lettuce.

I wanted to compare Romaine lettuce with bean sprouts, cost and nutrition.

Sprouts Have a Higher Nutritional Content Than Any Other Food. A sprouted seed, bean or nut has many times the nutritional value than the non- sprouted version. Replacing the lettuce in your salad with sprouts will give you 5 times the protein, 6 times the Vitamin C and 7 times the B Complex Vitamins.

People and the news are talking about raw food, that's what we should be eating. I was taught at 17 years old, not to eat just raw food, but live food. I sprout my seeds for 10 to 15 days then eat them live. Roots and all. Eating sprouts in Guelph Ontario.

This year I turned all my garden vegetables into freeze dried powder. I am trying to get the perfect ratio of each ingredient to perfect my V8 drink,(beets, peas, carrots, peppers, garlic, onion, tomatoes and turnips). I will drink one of these a day all year round. Example of processing vegetables, slice them, put on trays, freeze them, then freeze dry, then blend to powder. The more you drink it, the more you crave it. Last photo, my son had TWINS so I made two rocking chairs for Sandy and I, so we can rock together. Merry Christmas to all.

Every year I grow an amaryllis. I try to start it in time it so it blooms on Christmas day. Two days to go and no chance of blooming. I think the cold window slowed its growth. Anyone else plant nerdy like me?

I grow an Amaryllis every Christmas. I still get a thrill seeing a new sprout emerge from the bulb. This takes the sting out of the long winter we're going into. Hope it's not a hard winter.
