Included below is a link to the Bloomfield Horticultural Thrift Store’s mission statement detailing its terms of operation which will be funded through the sale of donated and rescued plants and gardening supplies with 100% of the profits going to fund local charities. This year, I will donate all profits to the Parker Street Food Bank. In future years, I will create a mechanism to support a number of charities and allow patrons of the thrift store to decide how the funds are distributed. Ultimately, I hope this effort will form the basis of a business model which can be replicated by others across the nation and the globe. To this end, I will make my financial records publicly available in the comments section of this post to help prove the business case for horticultural thrift stores. I will also post updates with my insights and experiences of operating a horticultural thrift store.
