If it hadn’t been for this magic duo, I would not have enjoyed the last month in my garden as much as I have. I’ve tried sooooo many natural bug repellents in the past, and nothing worked for me. I can honestly say I have not had a single mosquito bite since I started using Bite Insect Repellent Plant Based Insect Repellent! And here’s the BIG NEWS! I haven’t had one tick on me either! We are absolutely infested with black legged ticks here on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, and I had six tick bites in two months before trying the Bite Insect Repellent! That’s right! Six!!! I walk out of my basement door, and up my little rock path to my garden which is right beside my home, and they always seem to find me. 🤦🏻‍♀️ This product has saved my summer! The Bite Base Face And Body Mineral Sunscreen is heavenly. Unscented, not at all greasy, and it absorbs right in! I’ll be using both of these well into the fall. The garden may be changing with the seasons, but the pests stick around. I’m now busy gathering seeds from spent blooms, harvesting veggies, and drying so many beautiful florals in my potting shed, and those horrible little ticks will always be hiding out, waiting to hitch a ride. Bite Insect Repellent is a Canadian company, and I’ve been honoured to try their amazing products! I HIGHLY recommend!!!

The garden is changing. Many of my summer flowers have almost finished blooming, but my cosmos and zinnias are still going strong. I honestly love this time of year in the garden. I snapped a few more photos of these beautiful straw flowers before I snipped them off and hung them in the potting shed to dry. I can’t wait to enjoy them in my fall dried floral bouquets.

I received the sweetest package in the mail from Wild Witch Potager that included one of Heather’s newest candles, midnight in the potager. The description of this candle starts off with:

better known as the strawflower has captured my heart. This is my first year growing these beauties. I started these from seeds inside, and I really wish I had grown more. Next year I will be filling one garden with just these, cosmos, and zinnias.
