I began on my own in1988 ,brave and proud always aiming for good referrals and pleased clients. Being handy with extra talents,I also did a fair bit of wallpaper , even ceilings, varnishing and staining. My spray equipment is there to speed us up . yes it is dusty. Colors and brave design were prized as was a steady clean brushed line. Trends continue to bend our will. It is hard to imagine only five years ago I lost composure from getting five requests for quotes in a single day, fast forward to today where I show up to da a quote and the building looked ready for demolition, the handiman at the site popped out a switch blade when he saw me a competitor there at the door meanwhile a tenant shouted across the balcony various complaints. I politely left mystified as to the nature of what proposal I could imagine to offer apart from finding safe shelter. Most potential customers have a safe financial position before proceeding to seek quotes and plan , The small jobs are a mockery in the whole scheme of profitability best left to random survivors. How did we get here . The only calls I get now are digital promoters and sales ,scam caller is now not all it seems to be but the people who could do well to upgrade their property wait for healthy signs in a hopeless economy .Requesting perfect workmanship is now a profitable way to get things done for free. It is back to 1928, the dustbowl, two or three more stock crashes to catch the foolish buy it low investers left over and the specialized ability of efficient decorating has lost its luster, now I must be even better for half as much return
