Our clients wanted to convert their duplex back into a single family home. They wanted the design to incorporate minimal modern elements mixed with traditional details that suited the style and age of this historic house.

We always try to maintain as much of the original elements and character when designing older homes but changes to the floor plan were necessary to achieve a more efficient layout for modern family life.

We partially opened up the floor plan to allow for added entertaining space in the heart of the house while maintaining much of the cozy quiet private spaces.

The large wood column fireplace pinched the narrow living room making it a bit challenging for a furniture layout. We replaced it with a reclaimed marble mantle that allowed the room to breathe and puts back that lovely classic look surrounded by delicate details.

These clients are such a lovely couple that I am grateful to have met and worked with. They knew exactly what they wanted to achieve in their renovation and had big dreams to create their forever home.

From day one we were completely aligned on the idea that more space is not always necessary if the design is well thought out. And no matter what is trendy today, above all, the space should be a total reflection of the people who live there and it will stand the test of time.

This client had very creative design ideas that really make the space and these are some of the details I love most about this project:

• Custom veneer plywood cabinets with exposed edges and cutout handles by SILVERBIRCH
• An island that accepts an extra leaf to turn it into a table for family dinners
• Restoring the existing stone wall and incorporating a new fireplace
• Gobs of smart storage for all things kitchen and then some
• The pot filler at the coffee bar
• The "on air" radio style light that turns on when the bathroom light is in use (lol)
• Last but not least the newly EXPOSED CEILINGS that make the space feel 5x larger!

It is so fun to work with creative clients and to help them bring their visions to life 🩵

This space was designed to be moody and cozy, with a focus on maximizing every square foot through thoughtful storage and functional opportunities. To highlight the client's art and antique accents, we incorporated layers of ambient, task, and accent lighting throughout the room.

The design featured two key client non-negotiables: the incorporation of green zellige tile and unlacquered brass hardware, both of which served as wonderful anchors for the overall aesthetic.

One of our favorite elements is the oversized custom wood-framed medicine cabinet and offset floating vanity both delicately lit internally and externally.

We want to extend a big thank you to our amazing construction crew Aberdeen Interiors for their patience, care and consideration of every detail during this process.

It's exciting to decorate a home where the original character has been preserved by its previous owners and we get to keep it that way! New furniture and cosmetic updates was all this cozy living room needed.

Excited to share these side by side before and after photos at our Sherman project. This house was already so beautiful to begin with. We added layers of texture, pattern and softness to complement the stunning original wood details.
Pro tip: colour coordinate your room with your cat 😻

I love this sweet kitchen at our Douglas project in Toronto. This lovely family wanted a cozy casual space that was elegant, functional and welcoming for their family and friends. We kept the sink, stove and fridge in the same locations but partially opened the wall to the dining area for a more connective space. When structural interferences didn't let us open the wall fully, we did a quick design pivot to incorporate a cute wood coffee bar instead 🤎☕️
