We would love to hear your response to this question: Do you ever have a situation involving your trees that you think about and ruminate on for some time but don't go the next step?

What holds you back? Is it that life is busy? Is it a concern about calling an arborist? Maybe you are worried it will cost too much? Maybe you aren't sure if they will give the best advice.

Or maybe there is a part of you that thinks it might be nothing at all and you don't want to inconvenience someone.

What is it that holds you back?

Send us a personal message. It is a question that we have been pondering over for some time but would like to hear what you have to say about it.

A life lived, loved, and lost. But not forgotten. A beautiful tree (tamarack), in a beautiful location, to remember a beautiful life. May this tree keep those memories alive for generations to come. Keep smiling Dorothy!

64 years of marriage and still smiling and looking as dapper as ever!

Congratulations John and Virginia!

It has been a joy working with them for the last few years, most recently they had to have a large silver maple removed and yet knowing full well they will never sit under the canopy of a large tree in their backyard again, they decided to plant a new tree anyways. For the next generation.

“The one who plants trees, knowing that he will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life.” ~ Rabindranath Tagore

1826.

Canada was still divided between Upper and Lower Canada.

That is the year that King's College (now University of Toronto) was founded.

That is the year the Rideau Canal started construction.

It is also the year that the cornerstone was laid at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Ancaster (on Sulphur Springs Road).

Congratulations St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on 200 years of service and faithfulness!

Continue watching to see some special events happening this year to commemorate this milestone.

P.S. It was a tremendous honour to meet David and Betty to see their zest for their church and their community. You both were a joy for our whole team!

One of the unique challenges of working with living organisms that live on a different time scale from people is that good or bad practices won't be evident from our human vantage point for years to come.

Here we have a tree that a company formerly installed a steel cable to prevent branches from splitting and landing on our client's home.

Due to the push and the pull and the twists that branches make in the wind we have the tree responding very poorly to a static metal cable that is doing it's darndest to tell the tree to stop moving.

The result is numerous vertical cracks in the tree.

Hindsight isn't always 20/20. Should no cable have been installed? Should a less rigid but still taut rope have been installed? Maybe neither?

Maybe the tree should have had a minor weight reduction.

Choices, choices.

Making the right choice is a weighty task. Good decisions have benefits and bad decisions have consequences.

We take scenarios like this, build upon it, and carry it with us to the next job. Shooting every day to make better decisions for trees and for our clients.
