Using Mapei Eco Prim Grip here to prep existing tile before installing all new waterproofing and tile.

Is tiling over tile the perfect solution in every situation? No. A full tear-out and proper new substrate will always be the gold standard.

But renovation work isn’t always about “perfect world” scenarios. Budgets, timelines, occupied homes, and client priorities all play a role in the decision-making process.

Products like Eco Prim Grip exist for a reason — when used properly and in the right application, they can provide a solid bond over existing surfaces and help avoid unnecessary demolition.

The key is understanding where systems like this make sense… and where they don’t.

Every project is different, and part of the job is helping clients find the best balance between longevity, budget, and practicality

First time using servoperl grout in stone grey on this shower tile and I can honestlt say it’s one of the best grouts I’ve ever worked with. Colour consistency was fantastic, was easy to work with and held the joints nice and consistent when it was time to clean up. I had a fun Timelapse video of the process ready to go for this post but sadly it didn’t really work out…
