Spring is finally here!
Did You Know???
Cedar hedges are a major fire hazard in Kamloops, frequently causing structure-to-structure ignitions due to high resin content and low moisture in the semi-arid climate. These hedges can ignite instantly, burning in seconds, and have been linked to multiple local structure fires.
The City of Kamloops is introducing a new FireSmart Home Improvement Rebate program for 2026-2027. This rebate works with existing incentives for Vegetation removal by supporting home hardening improvements. This is an incentive to help reduce risk of wild fire by removing hazardous Cedar and Juniper trees, shrubs and hedges within 5M of homes. This is something you need to apply for so if you're looking for more information please visit the City of Kamloops website.
