Every successful renovation starts with solving the right problems.
For this bungalow renovation, currently in-progress, our goal was to make the kitchen feel bigger (without adding any square footage) and make it work better for my clients.
The original layout featured a U shaped kitchen with an awkward peninsula, an unused breakfast nook, limited storage, and a bathroom that took up more space than it needed to. Instead of defaulting to an open concept layout, we took a different approach.
We introduced a dedicated pantry wall and concealed the kitchen from the front entry, creating a more intentional first impression while adding valuable storage. A nine foot island became the heart of the home, complete with thoughtful details like a built up shelf that keeps everyday dishes mess out of sight.
In the bathroom, we reworked the layout to improve circulation, added a larger six foot tub, and selected a smaller custom-oak vanity that gives the room room to breathe.
Throughout the home, existing oak flooring was seamlessly integrated with new millwork details to create a cohesive feel, while carefully planned lighting adds warmth and function to every space.
One of our favourite parts of this project was developing detailed 3D renderings, giving the homeowners the confidence to visualize every decision before construction began.
