Nature is amazing! 🦋

So many monarchs, swallowtails, sphinx moth caterpillars this year! It’s going to be a beautiful fall!!

Monarchs- love all types of milkweeds to lay their eggs and caterpillars to eat! (don’t be surprised when they eat it all! lol) but need pollinator friendly perennials after they emerge from their chrysalis! Blazing star liatris, bee balms, joe pye weeds, goldenrod, echinacea, Russian sage, catmint, asters, sedums all help give them the energy to fly to Mexico!
Swallowtails- love parsley, dill, meadow rue! But once they emerge will want all the flowering perennials as well!

Sphinx moths- (look like a tomato hornworm caterpillar- but no horn on the end) they love Virginia creeper/engelmann ivy! I have over 50 huge caterpillars in my vines around the house currently! Yes they eat a lot of the vine ( but it doesn’t harm it at all!) remember if something isn’t eating your plants it’s not a part of the ecosystem!
They turn into beautiful hummingbird moths!!
They will love all those pollinator friendly perennials as well! They always seem to love the annual vervain we have around the greenhouse blooming in the fall!

The roses are putting on a show 🌹
And the raspberries, blueberries and Haskaps are already producing!

Veggies are now buy one get one while supplies last!
Perfect for filling in a few more spots in the garden!

And chances of rain 🤞 with slightly cooler temperatures in the next few days! Perfect for planting!

Anyone can come join in and give a hand planting the flowers for the town and weeding!
Meeting at the town office 1-4pm
Should be a nice afternoon! ☀️

Town planting day is tomorrow from 1pm-4pm and we can use all the help we can get!

Students looking for some volunteer hours are welcome and anyone that wants to stop by to help beautify our lakeside town!

We’ll be meeting at the town office, where we will start with some weeding and prepping for planting!

Here’s hoping for some nice weather tomorrow! ☀️ And maybe a little bit more rain! 😉

POTS

We’ve been getting an influx of pots coming back, and yes we can reuse them so thank you! But…we can only reuse the pots we have above. Everything else you bring us just ends up in our recycling, so please feel free to recycle those at home!
As for our boxes reuse those as many times as you’d like as you come to the greenhouse! But we don’t need those back, they’ll just go in the recycling here too!

Lots of pretty gift ideas in the greenhouse! Garden items, pretty flowers, hanging baskets but if you can’t choose there’s always gift cards!
