There's a fridge in this photo. Most people don't spot it on the first pass!! Most of what makes a kitchen like this feel calm is stuff you don't notice until someone points it out. A few things worth a second look here....

- The tall cabinet on the left is the fridge. The only giveaway is the vent grille down near the floor. Panels have to be ordered with the cabinetry, not added later.

- The backsplash is one slab of stone instead of tile. No grout lines behind the range, which is most of why that wall reads as quiet.

- Uppers run right to the ceiling. No dust ledge, and roughly a foot of extra storage per run.



- Under cabinet lighting does more work in a kitchen like this. Fewer surfaces to bounce light off, so it's lighting the counter rather than just adding glow.

- The island has a waterfall end, which is usually the single biggest line item people didn't plan for. It eats close to a full slab of stone.

- The flooring runs toward the windows. Same boards turned the other way and the room feels shorter.

Adding an in law suite means building a whole new living space onto a home that's already someone's life, kids, routines, and all. For this family, it meant giving mom a place of her own just steps away. Our crew worked to keep the site tidy and predictable throughout, since a project like this happens right alongside daily life, not apart from it.
