I can’t really choose a favourite, but I will say there is something about “Rose Cottage” that speaks to my soul. When I’m designing the goal is to choose varieties that will grow well together and also compliment each other. A combo makes the cut for the upcoming season if it meets that criteria AND it just “Feels” right. FACT #1 … it often takes me longer to come up with a combo name than to design the combo itself. FACT #2…Staff all inevitably have a combo named for them that in some way reminds me of them. FACT #3…Hours of planning and care go into each and every basket.

Tatjana chose “Solar Power”. The beautiful double blue calibrachoa draws the eye to the lavender centre of the trailing Osteospermum Aurora in this wind tolerant sun combo. This one sold out before we officially opened May 1st. I promise to grow a few extras next year.

Christine fell in love with the combo “Forbidden”. Years ago, for a brief time, an orange petunia was available. That is until it was discovered by a scientist planted in a train station in Helsinki. Tissue samples were taken to confirm it was indeed from genetics that had illegally been released. Growers from across the globe were forced to destroy them. Inferno The Orange from Westhoff Breeders is a new release for spring of 2026, and it the first true orange petunia available since its black market rival was captured in 2014. We are thrilled to once again have an orange petunia that isn’t “forbidden”. Be sure to watch for it next year.
