Today, our store was proud to host the official announcement of several major housing initiatives aimed at supporting builders, homeowners, and growing communities across Ontario.
We were pleased to welcome representatives from our local Minister’s office, Home Hardware Head Office, and a local builder owner to discuss these important changes and what they mean for the future of housing.
Key announcements included the Canada-Ontario Municipal Development Charge Reduction Program, which could see municipal contributions as low as 10%, the removal of the provincial portion of HST on new homes valued under $1 million, a 50% reduction in development charges for the next three years, and the $8.8 billion Built Community Strong Fund to support critical infrastructure in growing communities.
The discussion also highlighted efforts to standardize building codes, helping create greater consistency and efficiency across the industry.
As a locally owned business that works closely with contractors, builders, and homeowners every day, we are excited to see investments and initiatives that support housing growth and strengthen our communities. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this important announcement and discussion.
