Google times may not be updated since it can take a day or two after I edit them. I don't want to remove "temporarily closed" before opening day.

Opening day will be Friday, May 1, come rain or come shine.

Bring your rubber boots--we are under water at the moment from snow melt and last night's rain.

And it is expected to snow again for the next 3 days.

Here is a photo of my garden (the sump pump is going, moving the water to the ditch in the corner, which is lower,

And if you look closely at the second photo, near the spruce trees, you can see that we have some guests who are loving the water in our driveway.

Remember that soil temperature is not air temperature.
It can take several days to several weeks for soil temp. to catch up to air temp.
The top 2-4 inches will fluctuate as the air fluctuates.
Wet soil takes longer to heat up than drier soil.

Here is a sneak peek at our coleus plants.
1. The Wizard Mix bedding plant kinds that prefer shade or part shade. The plants are growing nicely and now need to be cut back so they don't get long and lanky. Since not all the seedlings in the cells survived the transplant, I will root a few of the trimmings to fill in the gaps.
2. My favorite collection of the Sun Coleus. These get big, look great as the Thriller in a mixed pot, and they don't mind the sun.
3. A new (to us) sun coleus variety called "Skeletal". I love this one.

And the 1500 strawberry plants that I was muttering about planting a week and a half ago. Planting strawberry roots is my least favorite greenhouse activity. But they are doing well

I just finished my least favorite job in the greenhouse: planting 1500 bare root strawberry plants.

But that was followed by one of my favorite jobs--transplanting the mints. We have lots of flavors again this year. We love our mint teas in the winter. These are the flavors we have this year:
Spearmint,
Peppermint,
After 8
Ginger
Orange
Hilary's sweet lemon
Jessica's pear
Strawberry
Mojito
Apple

It's Invasive Species Awareness Week! 🌿 Let’s highlight the impact of invasive species on our ecosystems. The Creeping Bellflower is one example, spreading quickly and outcompeting native plants.

If you spot this plant in your yard this season, pull it out! Not sure if it's Creeping Bellflower? Bring a sample to us, and we’ll help identify it!

Together, we can protect native species and keep our landscapes healthy!
