RE finished

RE finished Everything is beautiful in it's time. Welcome! Most of you know me, but for anyone who doesn't... I'm Heidi, single mom of 3 bears who most days I adore.

Some days I drink to much coffee and other days too much wine. Most days I wonder how I do it all with my lil humans. I really started refinishing pieces out of need. I wanted nice things but found the price tags too high for me to justify. After my first few pieces I realized I enjoyed the process. The transformation can be pretty cool. Trying different paint brands and new techniques has been fu

n, deciding what color and finish can be daunting for some, personally I don't start a piece until I'm inspired. Then it's game on. Sometimes I buy something with a plan, other times I'm day dreaming and inspiration strikes. When it does I usually get to it pretty quick. So many people have said I should sell my pieces, that has been the daunting part for me. Deciding what your own work is worth. Figuring out the cost of supplies and my time isn't easy. And really it's only worth what someone will pay. I have been told to be patient. Something I am not. Pieces will sell when the right person sees it and feels as excited as I did when I finished it. So here's me deciding to try. πŸ™‚

Originally from the Bombay Company. They are Solid wood.

I painted them with two coats of chalked country gray, then a coat of chalked charcoal. Hand distressed, this is the interesting part. You need to have a light hand! Sometimes I had to take a step back to ensure I'm not over doing it ... can you over do distressing? πŸ€” . I finished these with valspar finishing wax.

I love the leather pulls. They definitely finished off this redo perfectly. I personally think these pictures do not do this set justice. They are more beautiful in person.

πŸ–Œ I will never paint chairs with a brush again. If I do chairs I'll be buying a sprayer.... lesson learned.

My first try stripping furniture. It was extremely satisfying. Like I wanna do it again even though it's a lot of work. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ. It take all kinds... some people enjoy cleaning, some people enjoy doing taxes. I enjoy stripping furniture. πŸ™‚

This little desk was my first attempt at 2 colors. It was an adventure!

I absolutely loved the colors, but I love pink so πŸ’—. I sprayed the inside of the drawers and have since decided drawers also need love, it feels more finished doing this. I may spray the drawers in my dresser now....

I did end up selling this piece. Working from home I need a larger desk space. Again the buyer was happy as can be when she picked it up. She later messaged asking my paint colors and how I did the distressed dark pink underneath. She wanted to do a bookcase to match.

It turned out to be a labor of love. Blue chalk paint we decided was too light turned into me trying black wax for the first time. πŸ–€

We both loved the result. I also lightly sanded the drawers and added black stain, it deepened the color.... now I'd probably strip them and then re-stain.

When we moved this piece was sold. Too big for his new room. The gentleman from Germany was very pleased with it and said it was even nicer in person. This has become a trend. πŸ˜‰
