Part of a job few days ago. Change the hinges on a door. These hinges were so corroded that after I got them off, they were almost impossible to close up. The door was not closing and latching on its own, new hinges and some shiming helped cure that problem. Got a lock problem,? Need a solution? Give me a call or text at 902 350 0409. In the past month I have had 2 lockouts caused by locks being installed upside down. The majority of pin tumbler locks should be installed with keyway facing up and not down like in the photo. With the lock upside down , your key can stop working and you will be locked out. It can be simple just to flip the lock,but some locks require a bit of knowledge and tools to flip the cylinder. In one case the home owners had several other doors for entry to their house, but had no keys for those locks. In the case of a lock malfunction, which does happen, just having another entry point could save you some troubles. Been on the road last couple days , from Barass corner to Yarmouth. Little over 500km. I travel all over the south shore and the south west. Long day on the road yesterday with jobs in Shelburne, Woods Harbour, Yarmouth, East Sable and Bridgewater. On one of the jobs, I used this tool I bought a few years back. It's a rivet nut gun. The exit device on this door is mounted using a shoulder bolt that threads into door. The device fits over the bolt and is held in place with set screws. The holes where the bolts go , somehow got stripped out and the device came off the door. I installed rivet nuts in the door to repair this. Rivet nut are rivets with a threaded core, in this case 1/4 20 . Got a lock problem, need a solution, give me a call or text to 902 350 0409. Have a Safe & Secure weekend.

Couple calls today, one was to install some new locks on some freshly painted doors. This door had no deadbolt originally, so I drilled a 2 1/8 hole with the same backset as the lock. That meant coming really close to the window trim. After some careful measurements I figured I could do it without cutting away any of the trim, which I don't like to do. Also originated keys for the Honda motorcycle ignition I picked up few days ago. Was a beautiful day to be outside for most of it. Hope you all had a Safe & Secure day, and your evening is as well.

From Lunenburg to Yarmouth in the last couple days. Rekeyed a bunch of Schlage Fe keypad locks, changed out an old safe lock for a newer version , checked out a lock for a customer that needs some parts, and adjusted some Marvin doors so they close and lock properly. Also picked up a motorcycle lock from a customer that I will try making a key for in my shop. Glad the heavy rain stopped today, turned out to be a good day for travel. Ignition for a Yamaha bike that a customer sent me after the key was lost in a house fire. I ended up ordering a specialized tool to decode the tumblers in the lock and originate a key. Had another bike this week that was a challenge as well. I had removed the seat lock and gas cap to get some of the cuts , then proceeded to work on the ignition without luck. We decided to see if we could get some info from a dealer,then the customer texted later saying he found his key. Was rekeying locks and noticed this deadbolt was not sitting flush with the door. It has a collar / ring on it that requires a 2 & 1/8 hole , the existing hole was smaller. I used a guide to enlarge the hole at the backset required. One of the best tools I ever invested in , and I use it quite often

Lock install I did today. Adamsrite e force. Electronic access on a narrow stile door. This trim comes in 2 models , one for deadlatches , and like this one for deadlocks. Enter your code to unlock or to relock the door. Normal thumb turn on the inside. Lots of features for different codes. Security with convience for commercial businesses. A few padlocks I keyed up today. Put these on the customers existing key. All keyed alike. I sell a variety of commercial grade padlocks. Little job in Shelburne this morning. Door operator arm pulled off during the strong winds. Originally installed using self tapping screws. I drilled the existing holes , tapped them and installed machine screws. I come across lots of hardware installed with self tappers. Sometimes it works , but it can lead to problems down the road.
