This is a recent catch basin repair we completed. The most important step is to identify what caused the deterioration and fix the issue first, simply patching isn't always a long term repair. In this case only mortar was used between the top.of the basin and the grate. Moisture eventually deteriorated the mortar. We cut out the asphalt, cleaned out the broken mortar and replaced with a new concrete ring. The joints were sealed with rubberized sealant as well as new mortar. The cut out is also critical. Enough asphalt needs be cut out to allow for the required slope for water drainage when replacing with new asphalt. This repair will last a very long time.
