A New Research Hub Defined by Glass, Timber, and Light
Unicel Architectural is proud to be featured in the new Ragon Institute research center in Cambridge, Massachusetts — a 300,000-square-foot facility designed by Payette to support cross-disciplinary biomedical research and collaboration.
At the heart of the LEED Gold-certified building is a six-story atrium designed to bring people together. Unicel Architectural contributed to this striking space with a 3,000-square-foot segmented and curved curtain wall, featuring aluminum mullions and 20-foot glass spans that balance transparency, strength, and architectural impact.
Crowning the atrium is an 860-square-foot Vision 700S skylight, integrated with a mass timber glulam structure and decorative steel bracing. The result is a warm, open, light-filled environment that reflects the Institute’s mission of innovation and discovery.
We’re honored to have partnered on a project that not only advances scientific research, but also earned a Citation at the 2024 AIA New England Design Awards.
