Just to clear up some confusion. I'm not reopening the garden centre. I just changed the address because people are showing up at my old place, much to the chagrin of the new owner.
I may still do something with John's Garden, but it won't be a garden centre 😕
Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up

Most people were affected by these moths last year. Focus on eggs below the snowline in the spring to help reduce their numbers even more. It's a good idea to head out and tie a few ribbons around trees at the current snowline so you know where to focus. If you sang that in your head and the ribbon was yellow, you're as old as I am 🙂

With the recent low temperatures, you might be wondering how the cold will impact the LDD moth.

The extended periods of extreme cold temperatures that we've been experiencing can kill LDD moth egg masses that are above the snow line. However, egg masses that are under the snow line are likely protected from the extreme cold. This means that in the spring, focus on scraping egg masses that are low to the ground, as they are more likely to still be alive.

I hope everyone had a nice New Year's and Christmas or holiday. Mine were fairly quiet, and spent with my good friend Margot. The house and property were finally listed on Monday. Sorry I'm so late getting this up. The link is below.

A lot of people have expressed hope that the new owners might continue the garden centre. I have my doubts about that, BUT there is a chance that a neighbour might pick up the torch. He's said that he wants the displays and carts if the buyer for here isn't planning on continuing the business, has a similar property to mine, already grows and sells carnivorous plants, including (or primarily, I've forgotten with everything that's been going on) native hardy species. I've offered to help him with growers that I like to deal with, some plants to buy (especially the ones that aren't easy to find), and help with what does well up here. And he and his wife and kids are all very nice and helpful. Fingers crossed. This is all I can tell you for now, but when there's more to tell, I'll be sure to post about it here.
