Tree Fact Friday: Princeton Gold Maple

Looking to brighten up your landscape? The Princeton Gold Maple is a striking shade tree known for its vibrant golden foliage that stands out from spring through fall.

Botanical name: Acer platanoides ‘Princeton Gold’
Golden foliage all season: New leaves emerge bright yellow in spring and maintain their golden colour throughout the growing season.
Excellent shade tree: Forms a broad, dense canopy that provides plenty of relief from the summer sun.
Fast-growing and adaptable: Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, including clay, and performs well in urban environments.
Eye-catching contrast: Its bright foliage creates a beautiful contrast against green, burgundy, and blue-toned plants.
Fun fact: Princeton Gold was selected for its ability to hold its golden leaf colour much better than many other yellow-leafed trees, even during the heat of summer.
Landscape design tip: Use as a focal point in the front yard or plant against a backdrop of evergreens to make the golden foliage really pop.

Whether you're looking to add contrast, colour, or shade, the Princeton Gold Maple brings a bright and cheerful presence to the landscape all season long.

Tree Fact Friday: Ivory Silk Lilac

The Ivory Silk Lilac is putting on a show right now! While most lilacs finish blooming in spring, this tree lilac waits until early summer, making it a welcome source of colour and fragrance in the landscape.

Blooming now! Large, creamy-white flower clusters cover the tree in June, filling the air with a sweet fragrance.

A true tree form lilac: Unlike traditional lilac shrubs, Ivory Silk grows into a small ornamental tree with a tidy oval canopy. Available in both single and multi-stem!

Pollinator friendly: Bees and other beneficial pollinators love the abundant blooms.
Tough and adaptable: Tolerates urban conditions, clay soils, and summer heat once established.

Fun fact: Ivory Silk is native to neither Europe nor North America—it traces its roots to Japan, where tree lilacs grow naturally.

Pollinator-friendly: Bees and other beneficial pollinators love the abundant blooms, fragrance and flowers up close. Its compact size also makes it an excellent choice for smaller yards.

They are also fantastic for pollinators. Providing essential food and habitat for our beloved bees, butterflies, hummingbirds etc.
