Our story
Harvesting a Century Old Barn to be Born Again with a New Beginning
The summer of 2017 I harvested an old barn on my brothers property. It was tucked away from the road, hidden by caragana trees & full of the sights & sounds of Mother Nature and all her wonders...
For me it was a healing journey as I had lost my son Dec. of 2015 & a close childhood friend Nov. of 2016 I grew up a few miles away from this old deserted yard, a place where in my childhood me and my two best friends would ride our bikes & later drive here to visit with Chris Pratt ( The original owner of this property ) . A widower, he was always pleased to see us & spoiled us with pop & cookies ( a real treat in the 1960s ) From the rooftop of this barn I could see five farms, each place full of great memories of friends and neighbours from a simpler time & lifestyle long gone. This was my place & time to openly grieve for my extreme losses... it also filled me with peace & tranquility. One day I had the feeling that I was not alone, I turned around & saw two fawns a few yards away from me, how awesome, it made my day .
I saved each & every rusty old nail, chunks of wire & pieces of metal to keep my work as authentic as possible.
