The Greenery is HIRING !

We are looking for a nursery intern for the month of May, 2026.

Come immerse yourself in nursery life this spring! Find yourself living in an off-grid cabin on the edge of a natural ravine overlooking Georgian Bay and pastured fields. A truly unique experience of helping to establish a new native seed orchard in Grey County, Ontario. Learn the tricks of the trade working with a restoration professional for 4 weeks of all-weather tasks:
Transplanting of potted stock and into the ground;
Seeding new species;
Greenhouse chores;
Installing w**d suppression and irrigation methods;
General nursery tasks;

Are you looking for an off-grid farm experience? Seeking a place that inspires, nurtures - even creates opportunities to connect, learn, and grow? The Greenery Ecological Farm & Native Plant Nursery has a space for you.

We are looking for someone who can help with various tasks on our 10 acre ecological farm and plant nursery for 10 to 16 hrs per week. In exchange for a place to stay, we are asking for minimal rent depending on hours worked. If you have been searching for land to make your dreams reality, we look forward to new directions, partnerships, programming, or whatever inspiring endeavours you may have been dreaming of. We recognize access to land can be very challenging for aspiring farmers, so we’d love to collaborate, allowing someone with a vision to utilize the resources we have built here.

Our farm is 15 minutes by car from Owen Sound and 20 from Meaford. There are several access points to the Bruce Trail very close by. Georgian Bay is a short walk down the road for swimming. We are also a bike ride away from Ainslie Wood and Hibou Conservation Areas which provide hiking, bird watching, fishing, rare plant communities in coastal and wetland ecosystems, and excellent pebble or sandy beach swimming opportunities.

The cabin on offer is 160 sq ft and modestly furnished for independent living. It is on its own off-grid solar power supply, equipped with rainwater collection for the 100 sq ft covered outdoor kitchen with propane fridge & stove as well as a weber charcoal grill. There is an outhouse, outdoor shower and firepit area. The cabin backs onto a natural ravine and overlooks our pastured fields where our flock of laying hens are rotationally grazed over the course of the season.

We are looking for someone interested in spending the season here at The Greenery. This is not just a beautiful place to live; it’s an opportunity to engage in regenerative farming practices and connect with the community.

Hello to our friends, customers, & Greenery Farm community!

It’s time we share some news from the farm front. It is with deep consideration and big emotions that we announce that we will not be running a CSA program or be a regular vendor at the Meaford Farmers Market. This decision is extremely tough and by no means easy. We know this will be a huge disappointment to those of you who have been such encouraging and loyal consumers of our farm fresh produce. We sincerely hope that all our loyal customers are able to find a small ecologically/sustainably minded farmer to support.
This is an incredibly hard announcement to make, as we have dedicated everything to this farm business over the last five years. There is so much that goes into a successful market garden, and we are very proud of what we have accomplished at The Greenery. We couldn’t have done it without YOU and truly the hardest part about this decision is feeling that we are letting you down.

But this is not a goodbye!

We will still have our mighty flock of heritage breeds hens, (so not to worry about the fate of your organic pasture raised eggs!) & we also will continue to run quarterly microgreen subscription programs.

Once again you’ll find on our web shop (link in bio!) the spring vegetable and herb Seedling Presale - this year with many native plants! Perfect companions for pollinators, birds, butterflies and your garden favourites. We will be hosting an in-person plant sale in late May at the farm when you can pick up your orders and check out what you might have missed — so stay tuned for further details 🪴

All that said, we want to thank you so much for being a part of our little farm. This is not goodbye but a metamorphous into something new and different as we continue to navigate being land stewards. We hope to continue to share the Greenery with you in some form or another. Please don’t be strangers!
