Hello Osprey Crew, New Applicants and Potential Applicants. Come and join our great team, we have a great deployment reputation. We offer industry leading wages.
We are well into our 2026 Wildfire Fighting Hiring and Training plans. We are still hiring for all positions: Danger Tree Fallers, Strike Leaders, Crew Leaders, Crew Members (PSO, OFA, DTA) and Rookies. The current provincial fire risk forecast is for an early and potentially significant wildfire season conditions in 2026. This means getting your training complete in March is preferred to be ready for the start of fire season on April 1st. Students who can't make the first session, may need to line up for the second session at the end of April. Try to get the early date for everyone.
Our first S100/185 training and onboarding sessions are set for March 7 or April 11. These will again be held on ZOOM and instructions and/or registration are available from the office ([email protected]). In person Boot Camp (Moderate FIT TEST, PUMP AND HOSE) completion of S100 is on March 11 or April 30. Our Structural Protection training (WSPP115) aligns with these dates on March 12-13, 13-14 (2 classes) or May 1-2 (1 class). This is required for certification with BCWS, mandatory in order to deploy on a Structural Protection Crew. Note: If your WSPP115 is over 5 years old (2021 course) your certificate is expired now and you need to renew the Cert. Space is limited so register ASAP at the office. We want everyone to have this training if possible.
Type III Crews. We have 5 person, 10 person and 20 person crew types. Our 20 packs are very busy in even moderate fire seasons as they go out with First Aid Trucks, Strike Team leadership and higher density of experienced fire fighters. This crew configuration is very busy, second only to Type II crews. These are great crew structures. as not many contract companies have this configuration available. These fire crews have room for our rookie fire fighters too!
Type II fire crews are the busiest contractor fire crew type deployment option in BC now. Type II crew people are out to fires before single resource fallers or Type III fire crews. Chances for multiple deployments in quick succession are highest with Type II fire crews now. These crews are first out and last home at seasons end, as proven repeatedly over the past two relatively quiet fire seasons. This will be true again this year. This is also a great hedge against slow down in logging expected this year, and if its as hot and dry as expected, logging closures will occur early and be prolonged. We will be very busy in that period. Come join our great team.
Type II Deployments are configured with both fire crew members and Fallers (either CAGC Level 3, BCFSC Level 3, BC Wildfire Fallers) (BC Fallers). The requirements are: OFA 1&TE, OFA 2&TE or OFA 3 (Basic, intermediate or Advanced), 17 days of Wildfire Deployment Days and the WFX Fitness Test. We have single and double Type II crews with spaces for onboarding experienced DTAF's and Fire Fighters. (The double Type II's take 2 Fallers). If you are an experienced Single Resource Faller wanting to get out more often and on a Type II Crews, then register with us ASAP to get on the list for deployments. If you are a newly minted Faller with Fire Experience this is ideal for you. We pay Single Resource Faller Rates on our Type II crews! We assist with S100 recerts.
The WFX Fit Test dates are not out yet, but we expect the announcement of the BCWS schedule any day now, so sign up ASAP. This does not preclude you deploying on Single Resource Faller contracts, but it will in all likelihood provide far more opportunities to deploy.
Ok everyone buckle up here we go again.
