💜🐾 Today was donation day! 🐾💜

Today, Jackson, Brad and I had the opportunity to visit Purrfect Companions of Norfolk Cat rescue and deliver donations made possible by all of you!

Thanks to this amazing community, we were able to add $500 to their veterinary account to help with medical expenses, along with delivering supplies including kitten milk replacer, kitten food, toys, and other much-needed items.

Jackson also made a few new cat friends while we were there 🥰

Seeing the work being done at Purrfect Companions firsthand was truly inspiring. Their volunteers work incredibly hard every day to help stray and abandoned cats throughout Norfolk County. Between their foster homes and shelter, they currently have over 200 cats in their care. The need is real, and so is the impact they're making.

This year, our family lost our beloved cat, Leftie, after 13 wonderful years together 🙏🏻 She was a beautiful black cat who brought us so much joy..

While visiting today, we spoke with Brenda about how difficult it can be for black cats to find homes. So many are overlooked simply because of their plain colouring, and some have been waiting far too long for their forever families.

As someone who had the privilege of loving a black cat for 13 years, I can confidently say that black cats are the best 💜

If you've been thinking about adding a cat to your family, consider visiting a local shelter and meeting some of the cats who have been waiting the longest. You have no idea how much that one decision can change a life.

If adoption isn't possible right now, maybe fostering is. If fostering isn't possible, maybe volunteering is. If time is tight, perhaps a donation of food, litter, or supplies is something you can do!

Every little bit helps.

Most importantly, please remember to spay and neuter your pets. The stray cat population in our community is a VERY REAL and growing issue, and prevention is one of the most important ways we can help.

🐾💜 Stay Tuned! 💜🐾

This Thursday, Jackson and I will be heading to Purrfect Companions of Norfolk Cat Rescue with a vehicle full of goodies thanks to the incredible support of our Giving Garden community!

Because of your generosity, we were able to:

🐱 Put $500 toward veterinary expenses to help care for cats and kittens in rescue.

🍼 Purchase approximately $500 worth of supplies, including kitten milk replacer (a much-needed item during kitten season!), kitten food, toys, and other essentials.

We can't wait to deliver everything and see these donations put to work helping cats and kittens who need it most.

Be sure to follow along this Thursday as we'll be sharing photos from the shelter and showing you the impact your support is making.

Thank you for helping us grow something good and support such an amazing local rescue. Every plant purchased, every share, and every donation helped make this possible. 💜

As another Giving Garden plant sale season comes to a close, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to every single person who purchased plants, shared our posts, donated, cheered us on, or helped spread the word.

Because of your support, we are able to help some truly incredible organizations this year. What started as a simple mom-and-son project continues to grow into something that makes a real difference, and we couldn't do it without this amazing community behind us.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be delivering donations and wishlist items to Purrfect Companions Official Auction and Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. Be sure to stay tuned for photos and videos so you can see exactly where your support is going and the impact it's making for animals in need.

While our plant sale season is finished, we do have one more fundraiser coming up in July—we are helping with an auction in support of Sato Saved End of the Line Dog Rescue and Rehabilitation. We hope you'll follow along and join us for that at https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1QGU9gHwhF/ !

Otherwise, Jackson and I will be taking a bit of a summer break to spend some time together, enjoy the sunshine, and maybe even do a little gardening for ourselves.

💜 100 Kilometres. One Purpose. Countless Lives Touched 💜

At The Oakland Giving Garden, we love seeing people step up to make a difference in their communities, and this is one we wanted to share.

This June, Team Wayne – Hope in Every Step has committed to walking 100 kilometres to raise money for cancer research.

Wayne was a kind, loving husband, father, family member, and friend. He faced cancer with courage, and although he sadly lost his battle last year, his impact continues to be felt by so many.

This walk is about more than kilometres. It's about honouring Wayne's memory and helping fund research that brings hope to those currently facing the same fight.
