Wood stain was originated in the year 1660 by furniture makers. After the year 1850, it was converted into wood finish oil, waxes and french polish which are still well know products for making fine wood finish and wood protection.
Stains fall into different categories. The first and foremost comes under the heading of vegetable stain. Within this division, one encounters many names which were familiar to textile workers of the time - indeed it appears that the wood finisher drew freely on and adopted currently available fabric dyes which met his requirements. Some of the most
widely used stains are AlKANET ROOT, MAHOGANY and BRAZIL WOODEN STAIN.
